Desfecho decepcionante
Uma história muito bem contada e bem trabalhada. Cada episódio deixa a vontade de continuar assistindo sem intervalos.O romance seria muito bem construído se não fosse pela clara falta de confiança entre ambos, Capitão Tew e o médico Kan. Não enchergo como o relacionamento pode ter sido desenvolvido se os dois não confiavam um no outro.

Até o momento em que descobre-se que o Dr Kan praticava eutanásia nos pacientes podemos perceber a falta de culpa ou responsabilidade pelos seus atos, ele até o fim acreditava que mesmo sendo contra a Lei Tailandesa ele tinha o direito de fazer o que fazia. Não sou contra a eutanásia, acredito no debate e na opinião do paciente e família. Mas o Dr Kan simplesmente se sentia no poder e não respeitava a visão dos outros.
Ele matou o farmacêutico assassino para encobrir seus crimes, inclusive sobre a mãe do seu “amado”. A série ainda mostra uma cena em que sua mãe sofria com o câncer numa tentativa de justificar os seus atos, porem só se soma aos demais indícios de que ele é na realidade um sociopata. Um narcisista, mentiroso crônico, com complexo de Messias (inflado pelas enfermeiras que o consideravam um santo), assassino em série ( até “troféu” da primeira vítima ele guardava).
O farmacêutico inspirou mais empatia que o médico sociopata .
Foi doloroso ver o capitão Wan sendo enganado pelo Dr Kan.

A moral dilemma drama
This is a show about two people with strong values, trying to do the right thing. If you're reading this review before watching, just know that it's a very good show, that happens to have two men with feelings for each other. The focus on romance is just one aspect, not really the focus. It's quite serious, though there's small moments of humor and happiness, which I believe add more dimension. Without the moments of peace and joy, the characters would have been very flat. It is on the slow side, but I didn't find the pacing to drag. Eight episodes was perfect, imo. It told the story without any unnecessary side plots. If you're in the mood for something to make you think, give Spare Me Your Mercy a try.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Welcome the Morally Grey
A very interesting series that tackles the sensitive subject of euthanasia and addresses the matter from every angle by exploring the perspectives of doctors, patients, nurses, family members and the state, without supporting a specific side. Every character is loyal to their beliefs and supports them through their own ideologies and experiences. As for the acting, it was really good from all the cast members. They portrayed their roles very well and the way they should.For me, it was one of those series that could use a couple more episodes to flesh out the characters a bit more and make the flow of the story smoother without jumping from one scene to another. Even so, it's definitely a series worth watching if you like social issues represented and you usually enjoy a show with darker undertones.

La trama que mezcla misterio, policiales y romance de por si es mí punto débil, y no solo se trataba de un caso criminal, si no de una discusión sobre la moral de la eutanasia, del derecho a morir dignamente, frente a lo ilegal de esta práctica. Este tema es el protagonista de la historia, y es demasiado interesante como lo fueron llevando. Lo que me pasó y supongo que muchos estarán de acuerdo, es que la problemática fue tan protagónica que los momentos de romance quedaron cortos, la pareja fue linda pero sentí que hubo demasiado potencial entre ambos que no fue utilizado por ser contadas las escenas de romance, ya que sus interacciones fueron más por la desconfianza y la resolución del caso, siempre sentí muy tirante y deshonesta la relación, hasta el último capítulo, el cual sufrí pero ame, porque nos dieron el "te amo" más sincero de todos. Thiu lo amo con todas sus verdades por primera vez en la serie, pero cumplió con su deber. Visualmente es espectacular, cada escena se aprecia en todos los sentidos por la actuación, dirección, música y detalles, está muy bien hecha. Algún capitulin más para desarrollar la pareja es lo único que me faltó de esta serie, pero es una joyita.

Dignity of self determination vs the Law
A very competently made thriller with an interesting topic and romance that builds as the mystery unravels with great experienced acting, chemistry, and production all around. It was fascinating how at the beginning of the series Dr. Kan was a bit ambiguous as to what his intentions are, very well played by the actor, then through Kan the audience learns about euthanasia and what that means as a consenting act that enables people to end their pain in a dignified way as the very last resort. The show makes sure to show how exactly it differs from murder. His love interest Captain Thiu has a very black and white view of the law, which is very ironic being a gay man without a more nuanced view that just because something is against the law, doesn't mean it's necessarily wrong, and it could be something that law needs to be changed for.Kan's ultimate weakness was that he goes above and beyond for his patients, leaving evidence that could be traced back to him around despite his mentor's advice to be careful. The featured queer relationships all end in tragedy with lesbian couple that the doctor met with the terminally ill partner making a do not resuscitate order, but her fiancé keeps destroying them, refusing to let her dying partner make that decision for herself. The partner ultimately getting murdered by pharmacist Boss who also killed his his sugar daddy lover Dr. Som who wanted to expose Kan with Boss delusionally thinks he's helping Kan.
After finally kissing and implied consummating their relationship, Kan was tracked and followed by Thiu to the conversation he has with the coroner that turns out to be his mentor's estranged daughter leaves his fate up to Thiu who chooses to hug and arrest Kan while also professing his love to him for the first time. Kan can only cry in silence. Merry Christmas to the viewers who watched the finally on 12/25/24. This is a very competently done thought provoking drama. The ending leaves room for a continuation, but can also be left finalized as a doomed romance and starter for the conversation for euthanasia, the right to determine with dignity and standardized painless procedures on how to end one's journey on earth.

I'm really into Thanapob in this series
I was most intrigued by Thanapob in this series. Thanapob(Kan) truly impressed me. He totally outshone his co-star. The suspense, moral dilemmas, and the epilogue to the story are also worthy of high praise. This series is one of the rare cases where the final episode is actually interesting to watch. Usually, series end with a drawn-out happy ending, but the epilogue in this one is more like something you'd read in a book. The script and the story are interesting, but throughout the series, there are often questions about the characters' motivations. In my view, this is the director's fault. It's their job to ensure that the characters' actions on screen appear convincing and well-reasoned. Despite this drawback, the series is simply fantastic. I was pleasantly surprised by Thanapob's ability to transform himself. I've seen him in Midnight Museum, but I wouldn't have recognized him in this series at all. If you like an actor but can't recognize them in different roles, then they're a good actor.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Gays, eutanasia y un caso policial. ¿Donde firmo?
Empezar la serie y ver esos paisajes y esas tomas es un si rotundo. Siento que gracias a la serie no solo me puedo meter en la historia que sea sino que me permite viajar y transportarme a Tailandia a una región que no sea su capital, que puede ser una forma de marketing y de promocionar el turismo? Me han comprado definitivamente y es que se lo acepto. Me parece la mejor forma de fomentar el turismo. Es que, aparte que te metan cosas de la cultura, estilo la procesión funeraria o los distintos ritos funerarios que hay (me refiero con la muerte de Zapa y como todos van y esperan fuera de la casa y ves aunque sea brevemente un poco de la cultura) es algo que como extranjera que ve series tailandesas me gusta mucho y me produce mucha curiosidad porque me hace querer aprender más de sus ritos, costumbres y tradiciones. (Si alguien se está leyendo está reseña, primero de todo gracias y acepto recomendaciones de series donde se pueda ver más cosas de la cultura de Tailandia).Las actuaciones de todos los personajes me parecen buenas , no hay nadie que diga, para cariño que no sabes actuar. Y lo siento pero hay muchos Bls que eso pasa, que por muy buena que sea la serie siempre hay alguien que da cringe ver su actuación.
Me reafirmo en mi idea que los mejores BLs están protagonizados por parejas que no son fijas. No me cansaré de decir que las parejas fijas en la industria Tailandesa del BL son una lacra y que entorpecen en muchos casos el desarrollo de los actores, ya que les encasillan en ciertos roles aparte de fomentar un fanatismo tóxico y delulu.
Me encanta el cliché aunque es malísimo para mi persona "right person , wrong time" pero es que no puede terminar de otra forma. Ya que estás haciendo las cosas bien tienes que terminarlas bien. Por eso para que tenga sentido la historia y las historias que nos estan contando de los personanjes Tew tiene que arrestar al doctor por practicar la eutanasia (no legal en Tailandia).
Me ha gustado mucho como ha tratado el tema de la eutanasia, como firme defensora, no me parece que hayan dicho algo discordante o algo que me escandalizase es por ello que me parece una serie muy buena con dialogos y reflexiones muy buenas relativas al derecho de la muerte digna y como a veces la ley va por detras de la sociedad o que no llega a cubrir ciertas demandas de la población. No siento que sea una serie pro-eutanasia, porque considero que hay personajes de ambos pensamientos . Asimismo la actuación y el pensamiento del farmaceutico en contraposicion del doctor , muestran las formas entender la eutanasia y como el farmaceutico en sí no seguia como los preceptos de la eutanasia.
Este tipo de series que tienen unos escenarios espectaculares , buenas actuaciones, historias con sentido y reflexivas me encantan. Probablemente para mi sea este el mejor BL tailandes que me haya visto.

Constant contemplation
It is truly remarkable how well-crafted this story was. There are quite a number of charcters that really get in-depth characterisation although this story is only 8 episodes long. We truly get to see the juxtapostion between savings lives and caring about a person's life. Anesthesia is a controversial topic, and I think this drama portrayed the polemic adequately. And although Tew and Kan never agreed on it, there was a kind of mutual understanding, bcs they were both headstrong in their beliefs. That final reveal truly brought all the emotions from the last 7 episodes together for a final bang. truly impressive, pensive and rewarding all at once.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

Si te gustan las historias maduras, esta es tu serie
Desde mi perspectiva, esta es, sin duda, la historia más madura y éticamente compleja que el BL nos ha ofrecido en 2024. No te dejes influir por las críticas que la etiquetan como bromance. Aunque es cierto que se trata de una narrativa pausada que no sigue los "nuevos estándares" internacionales del BL, esta elección está plenamente justificada a nivel argumental.La serie invita a reflexionar sobre dilemas éticos relacionados con la vida, su final, la autonomía corporal, el concepto de justicia y la validez de las normas jurídicas y sociales cuando estas ignoran a las personas.
Me ha alucinado. Eso sí, hay aspectos que no termino de entender, como la decisión de dejar libre a un sospechoso, pero prefiero no opinar al respecto, ya que desconozco el sistema judicial tailandés.
En resumen, no le doy un 10, le doy un 20.

This doesn't work as a BL and it alters the source in a negetive way
No, I reject this entire mess of a show. The only prasie I CAN give to it is the production team because it was visually a stunning piece of work complete with some of the best atmospheric visuals I've seen. The rest is an absolute dumpster fire and if I was Sammon I would have NEVER approved this script. I sincerely hope it was something she had no choice over.
For honestly the last 2 and a half episodes I sped ran. I did fully watch in pivotal moment without 10 sec skipping my way through.
The BL aspect was a bust on every level of this show. Up until this episode these two did not in any way shape or form act like people in love. Leaving the suspecting each other aside there was little dialogue to support it and when it was there it came out of nowhere. Their body language always had a major distance between them and even the way they looked at each other wasn't that of lovers.
The initial I like you was out of left field and I feel sorry for anyone stepping into this without knowing it is a BL because it is such a confusing piece of dialogue. There is no lead-up to it and no reason for him to say it. Another very jarring moment is Tew grilling Kan about the director's death and leaving Kan's house in a snit with a different lead other than Kan. The next moment we get a scene of Tew giving Kan a pen and saying happy birthday. 🤯 Mood swings much? Even Tew moving in feels more like he is doing it to get access to the house more than they love each other.
These two share nothing in common other than the mother which Tew is suspicious of, not I love the doctor for taking care of her. The book leans on FWB but these two don't have sex until the very end, so what is left? Nothing. There is no earthly reason for these two to like each other in the drama and the actors do NOTHING to encourage us to believe they love each other.
For this episode, we get all the BL moments as skimpy as they were. While not a dead fish kiss it lacks passion. The only thing that could be said about it is that visually the camera work and editing is top notch so at least it looks pretty. It is hard to feel anything without a connection between the characters.
Now I can forgive ALL that . From episode 1 it was very obvious this wasn't going to be a good BL show. The actors lack chemistry and very much felt like the guys in a crime show that someone forgot to mention was a BL. You really don't watch Sammon's shows for the romance. But this was a failure in the storyline as well.
There was very little mystery since they laid it all out fairly early. The cast was tiny so you only had two options for the killer. I'll admit I did suspect the nurse at first but it didn't take long for Boss to be the obvious pick. To be fair this wasn't really a mystery sort of show but at the same time the info dump of the paitients in the end felt out of place because they were trying to keep it one, so I brought it up.
You turn your BF in after he is in the clear in all kinds of FU. After that impassioned speech, Tew STILL didn't get it completely screwed over the whole point of the show in the direction they took it. By changing the story to make it so the only people Kan killed were people that wanted to die there should have been no reason for Tew to want to arrest him. Tew should have been able to come to terms with his mother's death realize the mercy in euthanasia and let Kan go. Instead, Tew understood nothing. While he still "loves" Kan he views euthanasia as wrong. The nicest interpretation is a ridge view of the law is the law. Still, after that impassioned speech where Kan lays his soul out Tew's words, will you confess ,was like a slap in the face.
With the book, there is a good reason for Tew to arrest Kan. There are even some fascinating discussion points on where euthanasia, murder, and the slippery slope where the two can collide. This drama is a big fat NOPE on any of that. In the end, I will give credit somewhat to the dive they did into the trauma of terminally ill patients and how childhood trauma shaped both Boss and Kan as well as nurse. Boss, the dad tried to kill the mom so both parents ended up dead his lesson was terminal patients were bad and needed to be gotten rid of. While Kan's was his mom trying to kill herself and needed to be released from suffering. Along with laying out all of Kan's patients' last wishes, it did do an ok job of laying out Kan's side but it misses the very important aspect of the families of those paitents that live with daily grind. Tew's perpective isn't nearly as importnat as many of the others. Also doing a run through at the end of the paitents last moments not coupled with the little we do get of their familes leaves their stories disjointed. I half forgot that the mentor and the director were connected by the end.
It completely throws the work the show does do to show euthenaisa in a postive light out the door with Tew turning Kan in. When you look back at all the characters in this show, not one single person changed their stance on euthanasia. Even the coroner who caught Kan out and understood why her dad died. She warns Kan NOT to do it again. Tew is even worse because he ARRESTS Kan. I applaud the police department in the respect that they didn't want to dig deep into this case, only Tew did. If they were going to change the book so drastically then they should have changed the ending as well. The takeaway is euthanasia at the end of the day is wrong. I guess if you believe in that stance it is a great ending but still a screwed-up one for a BL. The very fact they didn't have a time jump of Tew fetching Kan from prison just drives home how bad of a BL this is.
TBH from what I've been told of the book this show does a disserive to them. It has change the overall theming of it by not having Kan be a murder of people not ill and not lying and going behind Tew's back to cover things up. By making Kan a good guy but punishing for it and making it seem like his childhood trama lead him to killing people instead of a nuianced approch strays too far from the book I think The nusciances of euthnasia and murder have been stripped beyond the Boss and Kan simple contrast. They tried to put too much in one drama and cast extremly poorly for this.

Main attraction of this show is definitely Dr. Kan, he is a total package. His acting, flirting with phukong (Wasan) & the way he is playing this character are everything. This show has an interesting premise, and top of that more twists and turns keep happening which are totally entertaining. The characters of the senior nurse, hospital director, pharmacist Boss made this story more intriguing. Anyways, I believe in queen Sammon. ✌️I have a unanswered question BTW, who stole the pen? I want a season 2
In the beginning i wasn't 100% sure if i was going to like this one but i was very pleasantly surprised. the plot was very much thought out and though i feel could have gone farther into the story ( i say this about everything tho, it might just be a me thing, i might want too much info ). i had to take a step away from watching at one point just to decompress from the whole info dump that was dropped. The open ending is one that has soooo much potential to make another season. I know that probably will not happen, but a girl can dream. based on how Tew has reacted in the past to the situations regarding his mother i do believe that what is implied at the end does happen. this would be a great opening to another season because it opens so many doors and possibilities. The show was overall amazing, and as someone who is not a big fan of thriller or suspense this one was really good. I think the character development that we see throughout the whole story was also very well done. yeah, this was really good and i hope to see more in the future. :)Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
