Good Doctor Episode 15

Shi On explains that the reason he took the blame for Yoon Seo has nothing to do with the fact that he likes her. Rather, he just wanted to do something to comfort her. She starts to cry and asks him not to be like this, and he hugs her.


Yoon Seo pulls away and asks him why he’s suddenly doing this. He’s confused… he was only trying to comfort her. He thinks back on all of the times she comforted him by giving him a hug. She asks him if that’s the only meaning behind his hug, and he insists that it is.


A girl (Yeong Seo) walks hand in hand with her mother. Yeong Seo says she likes walking like this because it reminds her of her father. The mother asks Yeong Seo if she misses her father a lot. The girl admits she does, and her mom asks her to sit on a bench while she goes to buy something to drink for her.


While her mother is away, the girl witnesses a bicyclist get stabbed by a man wearing a bandana on the lower half of his face. The perpetrator notices the girl has witnessed his crime. He begins running towards her just as the mother returns. Yeong Seo screams.


Shi On and Yoon Seo sit together and look at the night sky. She apologizes for getting mad at him over the Dong Jin problem but asks him to never do something like that again. She wants to be friends with Shi On like before. He agrees because he knows she feels uncomfortable around him. She insists it isn’t that she feels uncomfortable, but that she wants to enjoy the time she spends with him. If he feels uncomfortable about it, she won’t insist on being friends. He tells her he wants to continue eating and drinking together as they have. Yoon Seo looks like she has something else she wants to say to him, but suddenly Shi On receives a phone call.




The two of them rush into the emergency room. Yeong Seo has been stabbed in the abdomen. Her mother rushes in after being treated for minor wounds. Yoon Seo wonders to herself, “How could someone do such a thing to a child?” Do Han enters and tells them to quickly prepare for the emergency surgery.




After the surgery, Yeong Seo’s mom cries as she thanks Do Han. Do Han asks the police officer if the culprit has been caught. The police officer informs him that the culprit fled the scene and hasn’t been caught yet.
 
Do Han stands at Yeong Seo’s bedside and remembers a conversation he had with her mother. Yeong Seo’s father was a firefighter died a year ago in the line of duty. Yeong Seo and her mother only have each other now.


The residents and Yoon Seo sit in the office and discuss the culprit, they’re all fuming over how someone could do something like that to an innocent child. Do Han walks in and assigns Jin Wook and Shi On as the attending physicians for Yeong Seo.


Shi On walks Yoon Seo to the door when she gets off of work.He tells her that since he’s the stronger of the two, it’s his job to protect her. She doubts whether he really is stronger.
 
Shi On offers to take her out to eat, and she agrees to think about it. After she leaves he thinks to himself, “This is sufficient for me. Seeing your smiling face and always being by your side. This is enough.”


Yoon Seo goes home and takes Shi On’s flower out of the garbage can.


Jin Wook sees In Hae sitting alone. He apologizes for keeping her sister’s job a secret, and she apologizes for getting angry with him. She said in reality she just feels bad that things seem like they will never work out between Jin Wook and In Young. Even if he liked her before, how could he like her now knowing she works in a place like that?


He admits he was surprised at first. But now he sees it as a sign of how much In Young loves In Hae. In Hae begins to tear up and Jin Wook puts his arm around her shoulders.


Shi On’s father refuses to eat porridge like he’s supposed to and instead demands to be fed rice. Shi On steps into the room long enough to tell his father to follow the doctor’s instructions and quickly scurries out of the room.


Chae Kyung asks Yeo Won why she never told her Chairman Jeong is responsible for her father’s death. Yeo Won explains that she didn’t want to make her even more upset and that that’s what her father wanted too. Chae Kyung says this isn’t something that can be fixed with an apology.


A letter comes from Boston Children’s Hospital, asking Do Han for advice. The patient is an 11 year old baseball player who was injured during practice. He was first treated in Korea, but after that was ineffective, he went to Boston Children’s Hospital. He’s been operated on 10 times already and the doctors want to know if Do Han can think of any alternative treatment methods. Shi On comes into the room, but even he can’t come up with an alternative treatment method.


Chae Kyung meets with Hyun Tae and asks him to relay a message to Chairman Jeong for her. Although she once wanted to take Yeo Won out of her position, now her only concern is protecting her father’s foundation.


At the nurse’s station they discuss the fact that Yeong Seo will be coming up to the pediatrics ward soon. Nurse Jeong Mi is especially angry. The other nurses think he’s making empty threats… little do they know heactually has a bit of a gangster side to him!


Once Yeong Seo is transferred, a detective comes to ask her questions to help with their investigation. She remembers what happened the night she was attacked, but the shock and trauma of the incident leaves her unable to answer any questions.


Since Shi On also knows what it’s like to have a childhood trauma, Do Han asks him to take special care of Yeong Seo. Shi On tells him he will be a warm and strong person for Yeong Seo, since that’s what his brother and Do Han were for him. (Is it just me or do you think it’s adorable that he puts his brother and Do Han in the same category? Like Do Han is his surrogate bother ^^). The two of them leave… and it turns out Yeong Seo’s attacker is in the hospital O.O


NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!


Shi On walks into the hospital playroom and finds the children punching a blow up toy. They tell him to give it a try and together they relieve their stress. In Hae lays with her back turned to her sister. In Young assumes that her sister is upset because of her job, but In Hae says she’s upset because she always feels like a burden to her sister and asks to be discharged from the hospital. In Young says caring for her one and only sister isn’t burdensome at all, and tells her sister that she quit her job. She says she finally has enough money for In Hae’s surgery.


Shi On goes to the hospital cafeteria and sees his mother. He continues getting his food without speaking to her. He joins a table where Dr. Go and Il Gyu are already eating. They seem surprised that he feels comfortable enough to just sit with them. Shi On invites Dr. Go to his house again. Dr. Go doesn’t like that ShiOn is making it seems like they’re close while in front of Il Gyu.


Shi On’s mother is upset that he doesn’t acknowledge her, but Yoon Seo tells her just to wait a little bit longer. Shi On has been maturing a lot lately, and it’s only a matter of time before he comes to appreciate having his parents again.


In Hae isn’t happy, even though she’s getting her surgery. She tells Shi On that things won’t be any better even if she does have her surgery. He tells her one thing will change, her sister will be happy.


Shi On and Yoon Seo get off of work together and she asks him where they’re going to eat, but he insists on keeping it a secret. She’s talking and not watching where she’s going, so she doesn’t notice that a car’s coming when she steps into the street. Shi On pulls her into his arms, and for a moment she clutches the front of his shirt in her hands.
 
They quickly separate and she yells at the driver who is most likely already out of earshot. Shi On asks if she’s okay and she insists she is… she’s more worried about what they’re going to eat.
 
At his apartment, Shi On prepares dinner. She gets impatient waiting for him to finish…


Yoon Seo’s face scrunches as she puts the first bite of Shi On’s “pasta” (it’s actually somyun) into her mouth. Shi On tries it too… it’s awful. They promise never to cook for one another again.
 
Chae Kyung tells Do Han that she ended her relationship with Chairman Jeong. Do Han is glad to hear the news, but she tells him it’s already too late—Chairman Jeong is in control of the hospital’s finances. She doesn’t know what to do; this is the first time in her life that she’s been so troubled. Do Han tries to comfort her by saying she can always turn the situation around.


She says she doesn’t even know why she did this in the first place. She pretended it was for Do Han, but that isn't the case. She wants to be able to bring back all of the good memories of when she and Do Han were happy and in love. She cries and Do Han hugs her. (There’s still hope for their couple!)


Over the phone, Yoon Seo tells her mom that she doesn’t want to go on a blind date with a prosecutor. Using the excuse of a bad connection, she ends the call with her mom. Shi On overhears everything. He tells her she should consider going, since a prosecutor must be a good man. Shi On says that one day he hopes to go on a blind date too. Yoon Seo shows him a picture of the prosecutor and he laughs, saying the man looks like Voldemort. She says that since she’s ShinNaeBa (God-given-body) that makes her Hermione, right? He says he knows the truth now that she’s the only one who uses that nickname. She tells him he should have stood up for her when the other residents said that xD
 
When Shi On tries to use his stethoscope to listen to Yeong Seo’s abdomen, she won’t let him touch her. One of the psychiatrist doctors tells Do Han that she’s developed Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome after the attack. It’s important that she receives treatment for her PTSD, but first they need to make sure she’s physically healthy.


The children sneak out of the ward to eat junk food on the stairs. Shi On catches them and sends them back to the ward. The mothers look on happily as he scolds the children and tells them he’s going to confiscate their snacks until they get discharged.
 
Nurse Jeong Mi sees the bottle of cream he gave Nurse Joo Yeon in the trash. He takes it out and opens it… She’s used all of it ^^
 
Do Han sit in his office and thinks about what Shi On said about him being a strong and warm person…


Yoon Seo sits in the conference room and thinks about the Boston Children’s Hospital case. When Do Han comes him she tells him there must be a way to treat the patient, only she can’t think of it just yet.


Shi On still struggles to use his stethoscope with Yeong Seo. Do Han walks in and smiles as he pulls the yellow panda stethoscope out of his pocket—the very one Shi On gave him for his birthday. He shows it to Yeong Seo and says, “This isn’t scary, right?” and she lets him check her abdomen. Shi On watches on in amazement.
 
As he listens to her abdomen Do Han tells Yeong Seo to not be afraid because he and Shi On fight really well. Shi On pipes up, saying Do Han is exactly like Won Bin in Man From Nowhere (aka Ajussi). When he’s done, Do Han smiles and pets Yeong Seo’s head before leaving.


I’m not used to seeing such a warm Do Han ;__;
 
As they leave the room together, Do Han asks why Shi On is snickering. Shi On says it’s nothing, and thanks him for using the stethoscope. He hopes Do Han will use it a lot in the future too.
 
Everything seems great… only Yeong Seo’s attacker is still in the hospital. I hope you really are as good at fighting as you say you are, Do Han.
 
Nurse Jeong Mi gives Nurse Joo Yeon a spa gift certificate. He says if she doesn’t have anyone else to go with, he wouldn’t mind accompanying her. She accuses him of sexual harassment and says she’s going to report him to their superiors. He insists he didn’t mean it like that, but she throws the gift certificate on the ground.


Shi On’s mother visits his father. His father says she must be really happy knowing that he doesn’t have much time left but he’s going to make her suffer every moment until he dies. She asks him to please be like a father to Shi On because she plans on spending the reset of her life begging Shi On for forgiveness. Shi On’s father looks like he’s going to hit his mother, but just then Shi On shouts, “Don’t hit her!” Shi On’s father tries to hit him, but Shi On catches his wrist. He tells his father, “Now I’m stronger than you, so don’t do that to mother.”
 
His mother’s eyes flick to his face and she realizes—he’s standing up for her.


Later she thanks him for intervening and he asks her how long she’s going to let herself be hit by his father. She apologizes to him and she asks her why she only ever feels sorry towards him, and walks away.
 
Dr. Choi is surprised to see Hyun Tae at the hospital with a group of men all dressed in suits even though he’s been fired. Hyun tae tells him that now he’s here representing a company that might invest in the hospital.
 
Yoon Seo is still studying the Boston Children’s Hospital case, and she finally thinks she’s figured it out. She explains to Shi On that maybe if they reroute the direction of the drainage it’ll work. Shi On agrees that it’s definitely a possible solution.


She brings her conclusion to Do Han, who agrees that it just might work. She admits that she tried to find a solution like Shi On does, by imagining it in her head.


Dr. Go stands on the roof and remembers what Shi On said while he admired his calloused hands. He smiles and then calls Il Gyu and asks him to put all of the surgeries from the past two years on a flash drive. Maybe this is another test for Shi On? Dr. Go smiles and looks towards the sky, only to have a bird poop in his face. LOL.
 
Hyun Tae gets a call from his wife; their son needs surgery immediately. He’s getting transferred to Seongwon University Hospital because they’re the doctors that came up with the alternative method for the surgery.
 
WAIT HOW DID I NOT REALIZE THIS EARLIER?!
 
He takes the phone away from his ear. His son’s life is no win the hands of the doctors he’s screwed over.


Shi On brings Chae Kyung a muffin as she sits alone in the café. She invites him to sit with her, he doesn’t need to rush back to the other doctors because they’re going to drink cold coffee anyway. She asks him if he made his confession. He tells her he did, even though he isn’t so cure about the outcome yet. Chae Kyung thanks him, even though he isn’t sure why exactly she’s thanking him. She says she hopes things goes well with the person he confessed to and if he ever needs advice from her, she’s there for him. Yoon Seo looks on suspiciously as they talk and share the muffin.

Later Yoon Seo asks if Shi On is close to Chae Kyung. He admits that he is, she listens to his problems and even buys him food. Yoon Seo seems to be a little jealous and bombards him with questions: How did you become close? Why didn’t you tell me? What sort of problems do you talk about with her? Why don’t you talk to me about your problems? Chae Kyung is really pretty isn’t she?

Shi On says, yes she’s pretty and nice too. Yoon Seo tells him (insincerely) to get even closer to her, and keep coming to her with his problems.
 
Yoon Seo sees Do Han in Yeong Seo’s room and asks him why he still hasn’t gone home yet. She tells him he reminds her of Dr. Choi before he was Chairman. He admits that he often asks himself if he’s a good doctor. It’s because of a certain “textbook” like doctor on this team that he’s been asking himself so many textbook-like questions. Yoon Seo smiles knowingly and Yeong Seo’s mother rushes over to find them.


When they get into her room, Yeong Seo is reciting a description of her attacker… Mustache and a scar on his eyebrow.


The detective says this will be useful if they find a suspect. Yoon Seo and Do Han are worried about Yeong Seo’s safety… What if the attacker comes back to hurt Yeong Seo? The detective assures them that won’t happen. Nurse Jeong Mi asks him what he’ll do if Yeong Seo ends up dead, but he says in this situation perpetrators are usually more focused on running away.
 
The security staff can’t manage to guard Yeong Seo’s room specifically. Yoon Seo worries about Yeong Seo’s safety but Do Han tells her it’s okay to leave work, he’ll be staying behind for a little bit to get some work done.




Do Han walks past Yeong Seo’s room. He sees both her and her mother asleep. As he walks away he directly passes Yeong Seo’s attacker. Nurse Jeong Mi is asleep, and the attacker walks right past the nurse’s station. Shi On sees him briefly as he walks down the hall. The attacker enters Yeong Seo’s room…


Meanwhile Do Han get on the elevator. He suddenly remembers the man he passed earlier and leaves the elevator.


The attacker steps into Yeong Seo’s room and reaches for his knife. Shi On suddenly enters and says, “Who are you?” waking up Yeong Seo’s mother in the process. The mother then wakes up Yeong Seo and tries to shield her from the attacker, who’s now standing frozen between Shi On and Yeong Seo.


The attacker begins to approach Shi On, but before he can reach for his knife, Do Han comes into the room suddenly and kicks the attacker in the chest. He tries to pin the attacker and tells Shi On to leave with Yeong Seo. Shi On doesn’t want to leave him but Do Han tells him to go quickly. Shi On quickly carries Yeong Seo to the nurse’s station and places her in Nurse Jeong Mi’s arms. Her mother tells the nurses that they need to call the police and Shi On rushes back to where Do Han is. Do Han is fighting with the attacker, but then the attacker stabs Do Han. Do Han’s grip on the attacker slips.
 
OMG.
