The sports movie Rebound won the Silver Mulberry Award at the 25th Far East Film Festival (held from April 21 to 29).
The Far East Film Festival, held in the Italian city of Udine, is one of Europe's largest film festivals promoting Asian cinema. This year marked the 25th anniversary of the festival. Director Jang Hang Joon, writer Kim Eun Hee, and actor Jung Jin Woon attended the festival.
Rebound competed with 43 other Asian films in the competition section and won the Silver Mulberry with a score of 4.60 out of 5.
As the only Korean film to win an award, it is a significant achievement for the pride of Korean cinema.
Sabrina Baracetti, the executive director of the Far East Film Festival, praised the movie by saying, "Rebound is a movie that impresses with its convincing and detailed basketball scenes, as well as its comical yet emotional inserts. Everyone expressed gratitude for the courage and honesty of the story".
Rebound tells a touching and prodigious true story of the 2012 National High School Basketball Championship, where a new coach and a ragtag team of 6 players, considered to be the weakest basketball team, defy all odds and rise to the KBA National Tournament. The movie is based on the real story of the 2012 basketball team of Busan Joongang High School.
The movie casts Ahn Jae Hong, Kim Do Wan, Jung Gun Joo, Lee Shin Young, and rising stars Kim Min and Kim Taek, among others.
