Lee Joon Gi appears to be on the cusp of mastering the art of portraying dual roles through his performance in Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon.
The upcoming tvN weekend drama, Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon delves into the mythical land of Arth, where the fate of its inhabitants is shaped by the wielder of the sword.
The drama tells the story of the intertwined destinies of Ta Gon (Jang Dong Gun), Eun Seom (Lee Joon Gi), Tan Ya (Shin Se Kyung), and Tae Al Ha (Kim Ok Bin).
Lee Joon Gi plays the role of identical twins Eun Seom and Sa Ya. Sa Ya is the adopted son of Ta Gon (Jang Dong Gun) and is now a commander, and Eun Seom has grown into the leader of the Ago tribe, who unified thirty clans.
The first stills from the drama show Eun Seom and Sa Ya. Eun Seom bears the scars of battles, exuding the aura of a valiant warrior, epitomizing courage.
Sa Ya's countenance bears the traces of years spent on the battlefield, etching a weathered presence distinct from his former self. His face conveys not only hostility towards his adversaries but also a profound sense of unease, born from the passage of time.
Will we see the long-awaited moment of the encounter between Eun Seom and Sa Ya?
Lee Joon Gi, portraying both Eunseom and Sa Ya, shares, "The opportunity to depict the multifaceted emotions and personas of Eun Seom and Sa Ya, two brothers whose lives have diverged drastically, intrigues me greatly as an actor. This compelled me to embrace the challenge, driven by a curiosity to explore new horizons after a long time". His decision to be a part of Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon finds its roots in this artistic curiosity.
Reflecting on the preparatory process, Lee Joon Gi explains, "Given the eight-year leap, I was committed to continuously inferring and envisioning the life trajectories of these two characters. Bridging this gap remained pivotal to me".
He adds, "I hope that the combined efforts of the director, crew, and fellow cast members, who have spent a long time contemplating together, culminate in a rewarding outcome". He also cherished the time spent with all those involved in the process.
Global audiences can look forward to the premiere of Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramoon on Disney+ on September 9th.
