On March 24, the integrated computer network for movie theatre tickets of the Film Promotion Committee reported that the comedy movie Ungnami grabbed second place at the box office as the most popular movie. Ungnami, which was released on March 22, has been ranking second at the box office for two days in a row. The movie was screened by 23,245 people on its release date, and the cumulative number of viewers so far is 54,783. Moreover, the movie also set a record for the seat reservation rate in the entire box office with a figure of 19% the previous day.
The comedy action movie is based on a Danggun myth. According to the myth, bears can turn into humans after eating garlic and mugwort. The story revolves around twin Asiatic bear brothers who were under the captivity of a North Korean Institute of Technology. One day, they both make an escape from the institute after eating garlic and mugwort, opening the door for chaos.
Apart from Park Sung Woon, the movie casts many well-known names in the Korean cinema industry, such as Lee Yi Kyung, Oh Dal Soo, Yeom Hye Ran, Baek Ji Hye, and Choi Min Soo. Ungnami is directed by Park Sung Kwang.
