Ju Ji Hoon scares Choo Young Woo to death in 'The Trauma Code's preview
Cosmopolitan Korea released Seo Kang Joon's pictorial.
After completing his military service in May 2023, Seo Kang Joon chose to return to the small screen with Undercover High School.
In the magazine interview, Seo Kang Joon shared his thoughts on the past year, during which he prepared for his first project following his discharge from the military.
He said, "Having completed my military service and taken almost three years off work, I think I unknowingly felt a sense of urgency. Then, in July, when I started filming the drama, I was so happy. On the first day of filming, I even sent a message to my company CEO. I said that the heat was unbearable, but I was very happy."
Having been in the industry for 13 years now, what occupies Seo Kang Joon's thoughts these days? He shared, "Lately, I've been thinking about the gap [that exists] between the characters I've played and who I am as a person. Through Hae Seong from Undercover High School, which is currently being filmed, I've been taking a closer look at myself. Hae Seong is playful and full of energy, whereas I've always thought of myself as a more quiet and calm individual. But, I've come to realize that every character I've portrayed is a part of me. Hae Seong was brought to life by taking one of the brighter characteristics of Seo Kang Joon. That's why I've been spending time reflecting on myself these days."
Next, the actor introduced the character his Undercover High School character.
He said, "Hae Seong and I have one thing in common. The way we look at the world. There are moments when the world seems beautiful, but beneath the surface lie darker and uglier sides. Things may appear beautiful, but I'm always curious about what lies on the other side, and I want to see it. Hae Seong is the same. As a National Intelligence Service agent, he fiercely fights against evil, but he's well aware [that despite his efforts] injustice still prevails in the world. For an operation, he infiltrates a school and lives among the students, only to find the same societal injustices within there. However, as he is moved by the friends he meets at school and helps them, he begins to realize something important," he explained, raising anticipation for his upcoming K-drama.
When asked how he feels about his long-awaited return to the industry, he shared, "I've missed being on set so much. I feel immense happiness working intensely with the director to create a scene, and I'm so glad to be doing that again. Of course, not every scene is easy, but at the same time, I feel like my life is full." "It feels like I'm gradually stepping back into the circle I originally belonged to."

Undercover High School tells the story of a National Intelligence Service agent Jung Hae Seong (Seo Kang Joon) who goes undercover as a high school student to track the whereabouts of Emperor Gojong's lost gold bars.
