Netflix confirmed that the second season of Squid Game has officially started filming.
On July 11th, Netflix shared with the media that Squid Game Season 2 already started filming with all the confirmed cast. They also confirmed that there was no change in the announced casting.
The second season of Squid Game is much anticipated not only by the local fans but also the global viewers who fell in love with the unique series.
After the confirmed casts were revealed, it became a controversy and some were not happy with the casting. Specifically when Netflix revealed that former BIGBANG member T.O.P. is included in the cast lineup.
Some were not happy that T.O.P. will be making a comeback to the industry through the hit Netflix series Squid Game Season 2. The public has divided opinion over the idol actor because of his past issue relating to drugs. Many are also stating that they will no longer watch the upcoming K-drama because of T.O.P.
T.O.P. was also revealed to be playing the role of a retired idol in the K-drama which is somewhat relatable to his personal life as he previously stated that he will no longer return to the entertainment industry, especially in Korea. The director also shared that the details of all the characters will be revealed later.
Although there were negative comments about the casting, Netflix confirmed that there will be no changes in casting. The filming is also done in secrecy.
Squid Game Season 2 will continue the journey of Seong Gi Hoon as the recent winner of the mysterious survival game 'Squid Game' which has a prize of 45.6 billion won.
The new season will be led by Lee Jung Jae, Lee Byung Hun, Wi Ha Joon, Gong Yoo, Yim Si Wan, Kang Ha Neul, Park Sung Hoon, Yang Dong Geun, Park Gyu Young, Won Ji An, Jo Yu Ri, and more.
Squid Game Season 2 will still be the work of director Hwang Dong Hyuk (Miss Granny).
According to reports, Squid Game Season 2 will officially be launched in 2024 globally.
