Favorite Dramas of 2021

I think the main couple were really cute together. They both seemed to genuinely care about each other, even though there relationship starts out as a marriage of convenience. There are no jealous exes. No love triangles. Just really well done.

Fun little show. Is it groundbreaking? No. Is it far-fetched? Yes. I just enjoyed it. It's an easy show to watch.

The "bromance" is heavy in this one. I read the original BL novel, but since it's China all BL has been written out and replaced with Bromance. Still they do a really good job of skirting censorship. 

Of all the short BL dramas that come out of Korea this one was probably my favorite.

I watched this quite a bit after it aired, but really enjoyed it!

I put off watching this show when it first came out. I finally ended up watching it and really liked it. Though, it was just such a sad story.

This is probably the best BL I've seen in quite sometime. I have not read the original manga though so I can't attest to the accuracy of the story.  If you like BL that makes fun and uses typical BL tropes you will probably like this one. I thought the ending made a lot of sense for the series and I have heard they might make a second "season." I hope so! 

The two leads of this series had amazing chemistry. Some of the acting is a bit wooden but that didn't take away from my enjoyment of the series.

We Best Love was divided into 2 seasons. This is the second part and it takes place 5 years after the first, "We Best Love: No 1 for You." I think I liked season 2 better than the first but both are good. Taiwan knows how to create BL. I can't wait for the next installment!

Obviously, this is a much older show. However, I was able to watch it for the first time recently and I absolutely loved it!

I can't  believe how much I liked this series. It was so different than your typical BL. A BL about withcraft? The acting isn't stellar but still believable. I know they are planning a second season, so it will be interesting to see what happens next. **Spoiler alert**I'm also curious who will have survived into the next season.  Fair warning, this is a fairly graphic series.

I really enjoyed this Pinoy BL. It was not a fast paced show at all so binge watch it in one sitting. The direction style reminds me of Argentine film director, Marco Berger (there's a lot of sleeping.)  =)

 I've heard there will be a spin off for the Pangs and a 2nd season! I look forward to both.

I enjoyed this series more or less from episodes 1 - 5. Episode 6 made no sense whatsoever to me. So I'm not sure if I can consider the series one of my faves of 2021. But I'm leaving it up because I did enjoy the majority of it.  That ending ::shakes head:: UPDATE 7/19/2021: I've recently heard they are going to make a second season, so hopefully it will take care of that unexpected ending.

This one started out fairly shaky. But as the episodes progressed it has gotten better. Some of the acting is a bit wooden though. It features a lot of newer actors (I think) so I'm willing to let it slide a bit. 

Honorable mention: I watched this series in 2020 but "Cherry Magic" was a great Japanese BL.

This was a Hong Kong remake of the Japanese show of the same name, Ossan's Love. I really, really enjoyed this version of the story. All of the actors were fantastic in the HK version and it was so funny.  I highly recommend this one if you like BLs (probably would be considered a LGBT show instead though)  with a more mature theme. 

This could easily be my favorite Chinese drama for 2021. It was such a good show! Great acting, decent story.  I loved it! The Main CP had wonderful chemistry. I highly recommend.

Just a really fun e-sports drama. I think I liked this even better than Go Go Squid. The ML and FL did have great chemistry. Though the FL's acting could use some improvement, but it didn't take away from the enjoyment at all. 

Currently watching. I'm enjoying it very much.
