It was SO good
It was really good and then became a complete disappointment. I was not satisfied with the ending. However, I laughed throughout the series. The writers did a great job of giving the audience enough joy along with some tears. I didn't have any happy tears, but the love plot was romance and intense. I enjoyed that along with the storyline until the last 3 or 4 episodes. You're going to have to watch it and leave a comment on how you felt about the ending. If anything, I believe the writers can get a season 2 out of this storyline.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

I wanted to love this show!
Something was missing. The music was the best score in my ratings, which is the first of many K-Dramas I have watched. However, I wouldn't call this a romance. It's nothing really romantic about it other than some unrequited love. I did enjoy the actors and their effort to make this show a comedy. There were some laughable moments, but I know many of us clicked on this hoping it was a fuzzy warm, romantic comedy. ***Spoiler Alert*** You don't see anything close to a warm fuzzy feeling until the last 3 minutes of the final episode. I saw so many opportunities to insert those cute romance moments in the show. I guess that the writers were trying to show us that they can keep us wanting more, and they succeeded. I gave this drama an overall 6. I didn't have the satisfaction I was hoping for at the end and throughout the series.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
It's flopped
I didn't enjoy this movie, but that's my opinion. There are some highly credible actors and actresses in this movie, so if you want to support the movie because of the cast's involvement, please watch it. This just left me disappointed in the writer. It could have at least have been cute. I'm not adding any spoilers. I don't I could spoil anything about this movie. I was more bothered by the writing. It feels like this was made in thirty-days on a small budget at the beginning of the year. I get the vibes that they were trying to put out this movie as quickly as possible and stay under the budget.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
It was SO SO
Finally finished, and it is not re-watchable. At first, I enjoyed the storyline of RaRa and her optimistic view on life when given hard turns and pumps in the road. She was an enjoyable character. Jun was a young handsome lad that matched her personality well despite the 5-year age difference. Jun was definitely the mature one. The storyline was so so. I wanted to return every week for updates. Last week, I wouldn't say I liked the direction the series was going, but I didn't think it could get any worst. So I thought... Many of you will question the ending or love it. I thought it could have ended better. MUCH BETTER. RaRa should have had a nervous breakdown from all the stress, heartbreak, and lies she endured. I felt bad for her character. It's not the romance film of the year, and it wasn't as comical, but cute. You have to watch patiently and not make assumptions about the ending. Try to endure through the sad moments and judge yourself if this series is a hit or miss. I think the last two episodes ruined the entire series for me.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Updated Review at the bottom
The first two episodes will draw you into the storyline. Afterward, I just felt my life slipping away and could not bear to finish the series. First, there is no sever mistreatment that Minglan receives from her family, just pettiness. I would almost say it's very similar to Cinderella, her step-mother, and step-sisters. The antagonists are not sinister, just annoying and petty. Deal-breaker: There are many episodes of two characters talking almost half or three-fourths of the episodes with nothing exciting or essential that would genuinely help the development of the story. Honestly, you can fast-forward frequently and still get the gist of it all. I love historical plots, but this isn't it. It's hardly a romance. I would place it under the light romance category. I truly do not want to add any spoilers, but again some conversations last too long and scenes that could have ended within the first several minutes. This series could have completed within 20-30 episodes. It's painful to watch at times. Also, I don't know what was going on with the background music... It just added to my frustration. SMH. I was rooting for this series. Maybe I'll come back around to it after I've cultivated a few months. It sucked at least 5 hours out of me.
***I'll update when I have viewed the entire series.
During the quarantine, I did finish this series. The main characters' chemistry together melted my heart. It took a while, but I grew on me. Everything came to full circle.

The King's Affection?
I'm sure the title was something different in Korea. It's not as fitting to the show: The King's Secret, The King's Throne, The King. There are so many other titles, but I digress on the header. There are similar role-play surprises and innuendos regarding sex (male/female). The show is a plus for the gender-fluid community, for sure. It's not as funny as Mr. Queen and possibly more grey, but it's worth a shot watching.I added Mr. Queen as a recommendation, but it was removed. Go figure.

I liked it, but
It was a culture shock on many levels for ME, so I can't say it was a terrible show. I liked it, but I was getting heartburn while watching it. First, I don't know how much of this could be right with relationships in Korean/China/Japan. I understand that storylines can be fabricated to bring on the dramatics, but so many people would have been placed in jail or had a restraining order placed on them for their unruly conduct in the US. So, I tried to digest it all instead of arguing with the television. I told myself: "HEY, these are fictional characters living in a different country. Chill out. Why is it that damn song, again. Why didn't they pay for at least five songs?"Well, don't let me be the judge. Please watch it yourself.

Mixed Emotions
I'm conflicted about the ending. Mostly, I enjoyed it because the actors sold the drama, but the writers put too many characters into the storyline, and the "unequivocal love" was a waste at the end. **SPOILER** The two main characters have a complicated emotional relationship. After enduring and embracing each other's hardships together, they have a lot in common despite their age difference. In the end, he and his wife are still together: yet, she and their son are living in the US now while he stays in Seoul. He seems to keep his promise and is living a happy life as a CEO, and she has found peace in her new life. Both have grown together and separately with great admiration for one another. It was an okay ending, but they may have well never seen each other again and just kept tabs on each other through mutual friends. Although you see a possible rekindle deep emotions through a small hand gesture and eye contact, it's just left up to your imagination.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
It's not a re-watch!
Tumultuous storyline. Almost too much melodramatics for the soul. If you need something to cry about, just watch this series because there are no winners, in my opinion.A few things that I thought were common sense were not common on this show. Sipping on my drink and eating pretzels, I shook my head in disappointment.
Misery at 100.
I didn't know how to give you guys 500 characters without making it a spoiler. One, I did not like any of the characters. Two, a normal person would have quit that job having to work under those circumstances. It was overall, "CRAY-CRAY." Three, the twin sister storyline could have been dropped. The melodramatic was played too hard; therefore, I gave this drama 3 stars.

SPOILER ALERT!
SPOILER ALERT!Everyone dies... There are so many unanswered questions. Too many loopholes in the story that will leave you bothered and confused. The most villainous character lived in the end. It's not the acting; it is merely the storyline. It moves quickly into the plot, which I prefer. Most C-Dramas are slow and usually have too many storylines as an entanglement of confusion to make the drama more enticing (less is more). These dramas typically leave me wanting an anxiety pill. I'm not even 50% sold on the drama; I'm all in for the romance of it all. Anyway, as I mention, the characters are all plucked off at the end. Leave you shaking your head and wanting to let this whole drama go. It's not a drama that you'll want to see a second time. You'll want to forget about it and possibly come across it again by accident late in the future.
Nevertheless, I did like episode 35. It was funny, sweet, and enduring.

Do you love to hate treacherous women?
I'm slowly falling in love with the male lead. I find the storyline interesting. Why? The male lead already has several concubines before marrying the second wife (female lead). We already know it will be drama with women sharing the same house and fighting for one man's affection. However, like the series Yanxi Palace, the lead female has a reason to enter the Xu household, and it has nothing to do with the affections of the male lead. That's right; initially, she's not interested in him and speaks her mind freely. There's also a similarity to the Story of Ming Lan, where both females marry a Marquis and live in a house of treacherous scheming women. Yes, I can give more examples, but you get the picture. Actress Seven Tan is adorable and can be considered a serious female lead. Every character she plays is alluring and makes you want to keep watching to the end. The male lead, Wallace Chung, plays the cold Marquis who takes responsibility for his women, especially the main wife. He seems emotionally distant from all of his women yet believes in love but has yet to experience it. Therefore, he only wishes to live amicably while taking care of his responsibilities. This production has a 50/50 chance of ending on a good note.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?

The Rush, The Drama
I truly like the storyline and the screenwriting. It's for the mature audience. However, episode 4 lost my interest, but I quickly regained my focus with episode 5, and the start of feelings evolve into strange chemistry. That was a mouth full. Actually, you'll see this building in episode 1, but it seems to be stagnant for a few episodes, but the drama and the character flaws and issues will keep your interest long enough to wait for the romance. This drama is also funny. I genuinely love the acting and the character of Mr. Lee, the publicist. He's not on the screen often, but he leaves an impact on the audience with his comedic dramatics and care for the lead actress. Now, there is always someone with unrequited love... This is boring. It's not even amusing anymore with any storyline. It doesn't bring anything but an annoyance and time fillers.Nevertheless, the leads, Gang-Tae and Mun-Yeong, are too darn attractive together in this series. I believe that's why I gave it another go after episode 4. I want to see their strange chemistry and how they overcome their past hurt and heal.
I'll have to update my review after the series end.

I didn't finish, sorry.
Review for episodes 1 -10Of course, I'm all about the romance and drama storyline. However, the storylines are dragging. I have fast-forwarded through a few parts. Now that I'm ten episodes in and there aren't any established romance storylines, it's losing my interest. However, some shady characters appear in every episode. They are enemies that you want to see brought to justice.
I'll update my review as the series continues. I hope I can get through 60 episodes.
Review for episodes 11 -19
We are coming to a full circle in the following 9 episodes by distinguishing the many romantic connections. The first 10 episodes were diluted with origin mystery and serious infatuations. The characters seem to narrow down their doubtful love interests and began by confessing or staying quite for the next person to exercise their right to pursue the same love interest. There is plenty of action and revenge that is actually satisfying. The writing is good and the language is risky as for as innuendos, but no obscenity. The action comes back in battles for days. You'll like that some characters reveal their true intentions.
Review for episodes 20 - 26
Now, we are back to having doubts about everyone's choices and their decision for love or revenge. Characters that you want to like leave and those that annoy stay. The cutest character is the 4th prince. He reminds me of a cute puppy. Other than that I skipped a good bit of the scenes because the storylines were too obvious. An old character returns and finds a rival for the Lord's affection. There are two unexpected marriages. One marriage was sweet and organically connected and the other isn't and pitiful to watch. While our leading lady is now dressed like a man and her new love interest a woman, they are on the run with a bundle in hand.
Okay, it drags through to episode 41. I found my life slipping away while watching the series and I don't think I'll be able to take the ending.

Slow Climax
This series started extremely well. I was interested and wanted to know more about the characters, but then I lost all interest soon afterward. There is no satisfaction in this long lagging storyline. It doesn't look like it's rising to a CLIMAX! It's stagnant, which loses views 18 episodes in. If I stop watching, it's okay. Maybe after all the episodes have aired and comments have been posted, it will be doable. I couldn't navigate around the lacking episodes. This series drags unmercifully. It's painful to watch at some points: cute storyline but AWFUL screenwriting.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
Disappointing
If you've seen "Another!Miss. Oh," you will be slightly disappointed with this remake. I don't think I could get 500 words out to submit a review. The film quality is low, which is a tell-tell sign that it's not going to make the original look worst. I like the casting choice of actors and actresses in this series, but the acting is better in the original. It felt like it was going for the necessary appearance only. They wanted a range of skin diversity. Yes, I said it. No judgment, but there are many pale complexions in the original, and I understand there is heavy use of skin lightener in Korea. Back to the movie, if you like the original, please stick to it. You might get disappointed with this series.Vond je deze recentie nuttig?
