I Definitely Feel IFYLITA Linger Afterwards

Given that this is made from a novel and the social norms of Thailand, there were a few parts I didn’t like. Overall the series was very well interwoven together.

I really dislike Ohm because he was a POS in the way he handled his cheating and the breakup where he tossed Jom to the ground was f—ed up. I didn’t care for Jom letting bygones be bygones because Ohm and Khamsean are two different people. I don’t care if it’s reincarnation. Khamsean would never be a filthy cheater like Ohm. Also, Fongkaew would never be shady like Khaimuk. What Fongkaew did for for her survival and getting revenge on someone who killed her father. Not the same thing as Khaimuk did.

I didn’t care for both ending as it left a lot of unanswered questions. The first ending where Yai came into the present. Like how? Is this answered in the novel. Stop! I can’t stand it when series leave endings like this where it forces you to read the novel but the novel is in Thai and I can’t read Thai. That second ending. They best be giving us a second season if they left us like that.

The good part was the messaging of the series without being overly preachy. I had read somewhere that Thai culture accepts love is love from its history. That throughout history sexuality isn’t dictated by sexual orientation. It was only in recent history with its new militant government that the country is now conservative about sexual orientation. It is whyThailand is so open to LGBTQIA+ foreigners coming to the country. This is why so many people cannot understand why gay marriage isn’t legal yet. While the people open to it, sadly the government isn’t. This really reaso acted with how Yai’s father is. It wasn’t that he wasn’t aware of both Ueangphueng/Mary’s relationship as well as Yai/Jom’s relationship. While he was aware and didn’t stop it, he still let his conservative views and power grab force his daughter into a toxic marriage and was willing to sacrifice his son’s happiness again to save face kind of bullshit. Pretty much sums up the situation of what’s going on in Thailand regarding LBGTQIA rights. The government will let people be all gay but won’t acknowledge it in anyway that matters.

I would have like to see Robert and Dech to carted to jail where they are striped of their dignity like they had done to their victims. I would’ve especially like to see Robert caned or whipped like he had done to the people who worked for him.

The women in this series really need to be hyped up. From Ueangphueng saving Jom from a whipping by the a-hole Robert. To Fongkaew sacrificing not only her body but her honor so she can ruin the murderer of her father. But the best MVP was the mother telling the father she’s done with his tyranny with their children because he was a power hungry prick.

The best part for me was Khamsean not getting Fongkaew because it helped Jom forgive Ohm and move on from that POS.

Everything about Yai and Jom’s relationship was perfect. I don t want to spoil it for anyone who is going to watch it with talking about them too much. Really the chemistry was there. You get realistic kisses, intimacy and everything BL fans want in a couple. One of the best couples I’ve seen in a while.

One last thing. Ming is the friend we all deserve.

Catered for BL fans who like fluffy cliches and tropes

Oh, great! Another convoluted high school BL. My School President is a BL series, perfect for those with a taste for childlike fluff and jam-packed BL clichés. This show seems tailor-made for young girls and adults obsessed with the same tired old fluffy BL clichés. Also, it’s for a certain type of BL fans who complain about there being too many bad BLs and would like more adult BLs but still rave about this. And don't even get me started on those irritating sound effects that haunt every scene like a bad dream. Prepare yourself for the cringe-worthy sound effects that pierce the eardrums like a thousand daggers.

The school principal, oh, what a gem! Abusing her power to crush a music club because the male lead dares to offend her in the last semester, the epitome of pettiness. She happens to be the male lead Tinn’s mother. I can’t believe they gave her a glossed over redeeming arc. As for Gun’s mother, she hides her sickness to "protect" her child, leaving him with no closure again after losing the father. But don't worry, this series just brushes over it like it's nothing, and the die-hard fans? Oh, they'll gobble it all up, no questions asked.

Then we get the never-ending "will they ever kiss" nonsense that has the comment section going berserk. Seriously, BL fans treat this garbage like it's the finest filet mignon money can buy. And as for the teeny bopper songs, ugh, not my cup of tea at all. It's like watching a cringeworthy version of High School Musical but if this is your thing then you’ll love this series.

This school BL is for the kiddieish crowd who see are into feel good fluff without substance. Diehard fans of this type of school BL will gloss over bad acting and plot holes in favor of fluffiness where they are very unforgiving in other series. I can't believe I had to endure this mind-numbing drivel just because I was watching it with someone else. Of course, they had to throw in the "no dating" plot device to drag this disaster to a whopping 12 episodes. God forbid we get a genuinely interesting series.

Oh, but wait, there's a second couple with an enemies-to-lovers trope. Sounds promising, right? Nope, they managed to ruin it by giving it absolutely no thought, and suddenly, we're all supposed to believe they're madly in love. Spare me the agony.

Thiu, the one redeeming character, started off as a lovable wingman to Tinn but became a hot mess when he developed feelings for Pat. It felt like the director couldn't decide if they wanted a throuple situation, especially since I initially thought Pat and Por were a couple during the music video shoot. It's just sad to see Thiu paired with Pat while Por ends up in the friendzone. The inconsistency in character arcs is truly disappointing.

And then there's "OurSkyy 2: My School President." I had to fast-forwarded straight through the series to review it, and even the fan I was with couldn't stomach it till the end and had the good sense to abandon ship before the end. That should tell you everything you need to know about the quality of story and acting of this abomination. Save yourself the pain and avoid this at all costs if you’re not into delightful parade of rainbows and unicorns nonsense.

Age Gap x2

If you’re going to take issue with the age gaps of both couples. The main couple and the secondary couple . This series isn’t for you. Westerners are hog wild about the age gap relationships now because women have finally gain some power and are starting to date younger men. Now the media is all in an uproar about men grooming little girls to be child brides so women shouldn’t do it too. Women can’t date younger men. Even if the women looks significantly younger than her age. The casting is interesting because ML was 46 and FL was 25 while the 2ndML was 30 to the 2ndFL was 45. Proving a 21 age gap when it’s a man to the 15 age gap when it’s a woman. Now that the elephant in the room is talked about. I will say this. Don’t take your western POV into this Asian series because social norms aren’t universal. Spare me your judgmental self if you’re going to watch a series that wasn’t made for westerners.

The story was very different and interesting as you watch along. Since the acting is superb. Even if some aspects of it seems like it’s cliche. It isn’t.

First off He Wan is a very willful young woman who has been shelter by her mom who has a very traumatic life. She was married off to a famous artist to be nothing more than a trophy wife. This man is weak willed so he kills himself after he was diagnosed with leukemia. That husband is a self prick. He only care about his art and seemed to have left his wife to raise a daughter on her own while he focuses on his art. The he just offs himself and leaves his wife to raise his daughter with no afterthought. The fact that this women had to sell all his art to support herself and her daughter shows how resilient she is. Then she builds a successful business by herself by being the brand herself. She fakes a persona of being the organic queen so she binges on fried chicken and booze in private. It just shoes that imposter syndrome is real. She has to be this perfect women to be the face of her company.

The male lead. I don’t understand what is his attraction that the FL is gaga over him. Perhaps it’s because he is a good looking guy nearing 50. Maybe she’s looking for a daddy figure since hers killed himself. Maybe it’s because she sheltered by her mom after she’s diagnosed with leukemia like her dad. Maybe she knows her life is shortened so why not do whatever she wants. The fact that the ML had a slew of women who are after him is something I don’t see other than his looks. I mean he doesn’t seem to be sociable as he is curt with people. He doesn’t seem to have any money or ambition. He takes care of plants and does odd job landscaping. I don’t get the barber shop as he’s never cut anyone else’s hair except the FL in episode 1. Yet he has women chasing after him.

The chemistry and dynamic between the main couple is really good. The FL is the aggressor and a jealous fiend. I love how she told the ex-GF’s sister off with so much gumption.

I fell for the 2ndML. I almost always do. I want this dude so bad. His voice is sexy AF. The way he eats up the 2nd FL in those kisses. 🔥🔥🔥 Whenever he cries. I feel it in my loins.

The mom being the 2nd FL really has me giggling and doing double takes. Like how I detest her in the beginning. Then she softened me up after she is spotted gouging on the fried chicken and booze. All the while making the 2nd ML fall for her. But when she was there for her daughter during her relapse. I was like. Protect this woman at all cost 2nd ML.

What can I say? I loved this series. I am now back to straight series after gorging on BLs since Covid. BLs have lost their mojo with me this year.

So Much Wasted Potential

Anyone who thinks this was going to be a Not Me 2.0 is going to be very disappointed. I mistakenly thought this was from the same director because someone said so but this isn’t true. This is a dollar store discount version at best.

I really wanted to like this series because it had
1) twins
2) volleyball sports theme
3) a plethora of hot guys

What they got right
Casting Frame as Zee/Sprite
Pairing Frame with Ryan
Pairing Tan with Sam
Having a friends with benefits with Jack/Mike
The bad guys were the most convincing characters in the series until they were caught. Then it went downhill in sloppy writing.

What they got wrong
Salmon had potential but due to 1) poor character development 2) poor acting she became annoying
Namkning and her mean girl friends were a waste of time in this whole story. Taking the, out would’ve made no difference. How they ended up was beyond stupid.
The volleyball training was a bit of a hot mess. Original Zee would not be a star being so self center. How Sprite became good with half ass training dumb.
The scholarship kids on the volleyball team was bandaid together to have a semi happy ending that left me with WTF dumbfounded
The chemistry of Ryan with Frame was there but the storyline was a hot mess due to pacing and awkward editing. Some part was due to underacting and others were overacting. This director clearly cannot lead his actors to give any convincing performance. Neither actor seemed in sync with each other.
The baddies became so lame once they were caught. The acting was cringey to watch.
I don’t understand why the dude with the baseball cap showed up in last episode for Dedeuw
Mike and Jack was the messy relationship that made no sense. It was leading to friends to lovers then we come to the end of them being friends with benefits. What they lots the plot of the story.
How Zee was an asshole who all of a sudden became a functional human being with no arc left me confounded.
The mom who was a tiger mom to Zee seemed to become normal too without rhyme or reason.
Why did First ex come back. Only to disappear without rhyme or reason.
Everything with the editing was a mess. The pacing and sequence is just all over the place which made the story hard to follow. I spent so much time trying to connect the dots

Disappointed 4 Minutes

First off the acting was superb. Second there was a lot more ass on display than I care for and I am not opposed to nudity when warranted. It wasn’t but not to say it was done in poor taste. I am just not an ass person. So it just looked like it was done for shock value than needed scenery. If they showed back or abs it would be more pleasant for me. But that’s just a style choice the director. The sex scenes were definitely soft porn. It looks like they were really doing it.

The chemistry was there for all 3 couple. The main couple. The second couple. The cheating half of the second couple with the officer. They really deliver on the sex and kissing. That 17 year old actor was not a frigid actor who have qualms about kissing and nudity. I know people are mad about him being young and doing it with older actors. I don’t know about y’all but 17 year old boys are full of hormones and a lot have sex at this age. Women need to stop portraying girl’s safety issue of rape and pregnancy into gay male norms. It stigmatized gay boys with straight girl social norms which is what most of the BL fandom consist of.

Anyway, I am disappointed with this series being in a loop of 3X. I don’t know if this is an alternate universe series or whatnot but I feel cheated of a good beginning middle and end series. I don’t know what I expected but this was not it. I don’t think I had any expectations other than to see a well written series. I feel like this series was a screenwriter writing the same idea of a story and the rewrote it 2 times more. This was the result. As someone who use to write stories this was something did a lot. This was very reminiscent of that writing exercise I did in creative writing class.

This is why I gave it a low rating in story but high marks for acting. In the end I was very disappointed with this series. Not the actors.

Easily Everyone’s Favorite

When I first watched the trailer for "Be My Favorite," I was delighted to see Gawin Caskey in another BL. At this point, I'm indifferent to Krist, as I've never watched SOTUS nor will I ever watch it. It's just not my cup of tea. I know Krist had a homophobic scandal, which, depending on whether you're a SOTUS fan or not, will impact your feelings. I don’t have any interest in Krist like I do with Gawin as a Not Me fan. I just needed Krist to be good in this series.

The premise of the series revolves around Botkawee, who's in love with Pearmai. However, his unrequited love is hindered by Piseng. His life changes when a broken musical crystal ball is repaired by a strange old man, transporting him back in time to the age of eighteen. Everything turns upside-down. Instead of fulfilling his hopes with Pearmai, Botkawee somehow ends up in the arms of Pisaeng. Thus begins their cat and mouse game, with Pisaeng chasing after Botkawee. However, old feelings for Pearmai become a detriment to their blossoming romance. Enraged, Botkawee keeps twisting the crystal ball in an attempt to get desired results, leading to unexpected consequences.

When the series started from episode 1, I wanted to literally punch Kawi in the face because I thought he was a selfish prick who only thought of himself. As much as people hate Not, this is how much I hated Kawi. I didn’t get why people were fawning over him. There was nothing cute about anything he did. Kawi was a judgmental prick who blamed everyone for his miserable life of his own making. The only reason he is nice to Pearmai is that he likes her. If he didn’t have feelings for her, he would be his usual prickly self. He and Not are cut from the same cloth in this respect.

Piseng is just the nicest guy Kawi had the fortune of meeting. Piseng was being a good friend to his childhood friend, Pearmai. Overall, he is very kind and sweet. Piseng is such a people pleaser to the point of being annoying when Kawi takes advantage of him again and again.

Max is truly the MVP of Kawi’s life. He helped Kawi with his self-development as a person. He wasn’t as fleshed out as I would’ve liked, but it was good enough for a BL series.

Pearmai wasn’t a typical female trope, and I feel so bad for her. Always being the pretty girl everyone thinks has it all, but in truth, she didn’t get Piseng, her childhood crush. She didn’t get Kawi because of her childhood crush. Then to be knocked up by Not as a backup marriage plan after her failed relationship with Kawi. I’m glad she had her happy ending and resolved her childhood issues.

I didn’t like Kwan for two reasons: first, for going along with pranking Kawi and Pear on the trip. Like no! Second, for having such low self-esteem to allow a lowlife like Not to use her as a side piece. But she got her just desserts when she cleaned house of being Not’s side piece.

Not is so not doing it for me. He’s a total piece of trash that isn’t worth recycling. He's trash left out in the basking sun for too long that not even dung flies want to swarm around him. The only redeeming arc I want to see. Not to lose all his friends and hit rock bottom for years before he gets the realization that he’s the problem like Kawi did. Then he changes to become a decent person.

Let me just say the relational relationships with the parents of each main character were so good. From Kawi letting his father know that he did the best he could to raise him as a single dad, that he doesn’t need to compare himself to other parents because Kawi loves him for doing his best. Plus, that speech about how there isn’t a set standard of how to be the perfect parent. It’s true. Kawi turned out okay in the end despite his hard circumstances. He isn’t Not, who I'm sure had more affluent and supportive parents, and look at how he turned out as a person.

Then Pear, being raised by her single dad because her mom wanted her own selfish goals to matter more. It really was eye-opening for the mom when she thought her success should be celebrated at the expense of her daughter’s resentment over being abandoned. Even the dad, who has forgiven the mom, but didn’t understand that asking a kid to be understanding of being abandoned by a parent isn’t right. When Pear said she felt expected to be perfect, it shows adults don’t always get it right. I'm glad the dad told Pear she’s entitled to change her opinions and feelings as she grows.

Piseng’s mom, while verbally supportive, lacked the actions to show him the support he needs. Sometimes what we say and what we do are in direct contrast to each other. I’m glad Piseng called his mom out on it.

I love how each parent is shown to be flawed, and they don’t always do the right thing or know what is best. You just need to listen to your kid as they are becoming adults and knowing their own minds. I enjoyed the parents in this series. They were shown to be flawed people too.

I was a little mixed about Kawi’s hesitation to be romantic with Piseng. I’m not talking about intimacy or sex, but just the fact that they are in a room together, he won’t allow Piseng to hug him or kiss him. I mean, he was fine with Pear kissing him on the cheek when he walked her home. It’s annoying that he asked Piseng out but they can’t even hold hands or hug each other. Like I get he was self-identifying as heterosexual but when you knowingly get into a gay relationship and you can’t even hold hands or hug, it’s just not doing it for me. However, the uncertainty of Kawi having sex with Piseng for the first time is beautifully portrayed.

I started to dislike Kawi or Krist after they got into a relationship; their chemistry was so awkward to watch in that episode. (Krist stans, I don’t give a damn if you disagree or think I’m a hater just because I didn’t like his performance here. If you see I did praise his acting in other areas so zip it.) I can’t help but wonder if Krist is just uncomfortable doing these kinds of romantic scenes, or it’s just GMMTV unwilling to show viewers what a healthy romantic relationship looks like. I’m fine with the Director skipping sex than putting in scenes that are disappointing because they look so awkward. At the bare minimum, I expected plenty of hugging and kissing, as Piseng is just that type of guy. It wasn’t like Kawi was opposed to it.

The ending was near perfect except for Not showing up. "Be My Favorite" is easily my favorite series from GMMTV this year.

Rich Gay Drama Storytelling

Unintentional Love Story" is a gem among BL series, especially for those seeking more mature storytelling beyond the traditional fluffy BLs. The plot revolves around Ji Won Young, an innocent victim of a corruption scandal that cost him his job. Determined to reclaim his position, Won Young embarks on a journey to find the chairman's favorite artist, Yoon Tae Joon, who vanished from the spotlight. What unfolds is a captivating tale of self-discovery, questioning one's identity, and the complexities of love.

Ji Won Young's journey is a rollercoaster of emotions as he faces unjust consequences due to his superior's scandal. Determined to right the wrong, he sets out on a heartfelt mission to find the missing artist, Yoon Tae Joon. Won Young's internal turmoil and growing feelings for Tae Joon add depth to the narrative, making us question our own assumptions about sexuality and motivations.

The heartwarming tale unfolds as Won Young attempts to win back Tae Joon's love, leading to a remarkable transformation in both characters. The healing process and growth in their relationship is a heart-tugging journey that resonates with the audience, showcasing the power of love and forgiveness in overcoming relationship trauma.

Another delightful aspect of the series is the second couple, Dong Hee and Ho Tae, who share a childhood friendship. After many failed straight relationships, Ho Tae has come to the conclusion it is because he has always harbored feeling for Dong Hee. Ho Tae's pursuit of Dong Hee, driven by his genuine feelings and love, makes for a compelling storyline. Dong Hee's reluctance to accept Ho Tae's advances stems from his respect for Ho Tae’s mom and her acceptance he received from her. He wants to spared Ho Tae of hardship as a gay man. It's a tale of two hearts finding their way to each other, culminating in an exciting promise of a season 2.

"Unintentional Love Story" beautifully captures the magic of love amidst life's challenges. It steers away from shallow storytelling and instead focuses on authentic character development and emotional depth. It is a testament to Korea’s ability to produce adult-oriented series that transcend clichés like Thai adult BLs like "Unforgotten Nights" and "Bed Friend," which often rely on explicit content rather than meaningful storytelling.

For BL enthusiasts seeking a more profound and thought-provoking adult gay dramas, "Unintentional Love Story" is a must-watch. It leaves viewers with a sense of hope and happiness, proving that love can indeed conquer all, even in the face of life's obstacles.

Cute but Lacking Plot

If you decide to watch this series, it's best to leave any expectations at the door. Otherwise, you're likely to be disappointed due to the lack of a substantial plot in this series. The description is quite misleading.

Lee Jun is a former idol who receives an internship offer from his ex-manager, now turned good friend. Little does he know, the new director of the company is none other than his childhood friend, Choi Jun, who happens to be romantically interested in Lee Jun. Meanwhile, Lee Jun's close friend, HyunJae, secretly harbors unrequited feelings for him. Further complicating the romantic dynamics is Lee Jun's former senior, Simeon. However, Lee Jun seems to be completely oblivious to the love square that surrounds him.

Despite the messy and incoherent plot, along with an abundance of unnecessary office scenes, the series manages to have its cute moments. Lee Jun's character, an average-looking idol, is relatable to many viewers who can put themselves into his shoes, which is part of the series' charm. After all, who wouldn't want three attractive individuals vying for their attention, even if they don't all fall into the same "hotness" category? It's a well-known rom-com trope to pair an ordinary protagonist with above-average hot pursuers , and it seems to work here. I mean you won’t find me rejecting Choi Jun and HyunJae anytime soon. You can keep Simeon. Just take a look at the comment section to see how thirsty people are for Choi Jun.

This series undeniably had potential, but unfortunately, it falls victim to subpar writing, directing, and editing, making it quite a mess. Nonetheless, the show manages to offer some eye candy, as Korean BLs are often praised for their visual aesthetics, setting them apart from BL series in other countries.

If you're seeking a well-crafted plot, this series might not be the right choice. However, if you’re just looking for some silliness to binge that requires no thinking but delivers in the visual department, then this series might just be what you're looking for.

Soft Porn Trainwreck

Much like a train wreck I couldn’t look away. But before the explosion I decided to look away because I cannot unsee what I had seen already. I don’t need to see the end to know the death of this series.

I read somewhere that some of the actors are Only Fans broadcasters. I am not sure if this is true but it would make sense for the NC scenes and the zero acting ability.

For Nant, I don’t understand this character at all. Other than he was a plot device. There is no character development. I didn’t even see him in the first scene and had to rewind when his twin Non’t showed up.

How can the friends not know Non’t is not Nant? But then again all the friends are super fvcked up people.

How can Prom just hook up with Non’t after he knows it’s not Nant? It’s weird. Prom was supposedly in love with Nant. He even helped him fake his suicide to help him escape loan sharks. I thought Prom was Playboyy’s owner but it’s the pedophiler Daddy JasonLee.

Zouey and Teena are an odd couple. Teena comes across as the Only Fans broadcaster because dude just stands around looking like a prop except when he has to perform sex acts.

Yuck to First. Seriously the insertion of objects into the butt. The fisting. And biting someone’s d!ck. Soong and Pune most really need the money thst bad to put up with it. Good for Soong leaving but to upend ups it’s another psycho like Daddy Jason Lee.

Captain can rot in hell. Good that Keen found out about him and made him think he’s still with Puen. I want him to suffer in heartbreak. Shit I want someone to pistol whip some sense into him.

Porsche doesn’t deserve Jump. I am glad Jump has journalist side piece. I want them together and Porsche can deal with Daddy Jason Lee on his own.

Maybe Phop and Nuth belong together. They are both orange flag with one going green and the other red. That’s how they are coming off.

At this point I don’t care who kill Nant. Most likely Daddy JasonLee. Or will I wast any more time watching the last episode.

Even scrubbing through at 2x isn’t helping to save this self inflicted torture

Ending Ruined This Series

Maybe it’s because it’s a P’Aof series that it reminded me of Never Let Me Go which he produced that had me seeing a rehash of the beach frolic and wedding getaway.

That being said. It’s undeniable that Jimmy and Sea can act without relying too much of the tropey shipwork you expect from BL ships.

Jimmy is a far better actor than Sea but Sea is leaps and bounds above someone like Dunk. Together they gave both Mhok and Day life into these characters.

Whereas Palm was a doormat of character in NLMG, Mhok held his own despite being a caretaker in servitude to Day his employer. Mhok was never subservient to Day. He led Day out of his cave and into the world outside by guiding him as his P’ Mhok and never his servant. This is where P’Aof corrected what Jojo did poorly for Palm. Mhok was still a whole ass person and not an extension of his employer like Palm.

I really did not like the Mom in this series. She needs a whole co-parenting book. It irked me to no med that her older son became an alcoholic while she was being a workaholic. Just because she was cheated on she made her son suffer for her hurt. It was selfish for her to cut off her ex’s ties to his kids because she was hurt by the cheating. That’s an act on her, since we don’t know her whole backstory. I am sure she was no cakewalk since she said she would rather her son lived out his young life in his room than to go outside and live his best life. And Day did have the best time on the wedding trip. I mean he got his cherry popped and had sex with someone he fell in love with while blind. And what the f@ck did woman do? She tells her son to go to his room so she can fire his lover and best caretaker.

The reason why Day is blind is her fault. You cannot convince me otherwise. The mom was the one who made her son a raging drunk by not only making Night not have a dad but she was an absentee mom. Then she brought he son Day a car. If Night wasn’t drunk then the accident won’t have happen. If Day didn’t have a car but had to take a car service then accident won’t happen.

I see no point of having August in the series. Was it to show that Day is gay while Mhok is now bisexual?

I don’t know what the clusterf@ck that last episode was. It looked like they had extra footage and threw it in to squeeze in a whole episode. If they cut out August and the last episode extra footage. They could’ve done 8 episodes. But if they were to do 12, I would have liked more backstory of the dad redemption arc. Because what the hell was that Mom and Dad sitting together so let them be. Are they getting back together or now being civil in co-parenting. I would’ve like to see Night and Phojai’s relationship develop. Like we saw more of On and Pla’s relationship. I would much rather see more of Night and Phojai’s relationship with the baby.

I get why Day broke up with Mhok but something about the way it was acted ot play out just didn’t gel.

Overall it was a very good series for the main couple. I am glad there isn’t a second BL couple. One of my wish for 2023 was to see gay couples existing in a straight couple world. I want BL to be more reflective of the real world. And not the BL world of school girls or older fujoshis where every man is gay or about to become gay or lesbian. I like a mix bag of sexual fluidity in the straight world.

Only enjoyable as a Pond Fan

I watched this series as a Pond Naravit fan, hoping to support his work. The only saving grace for me was his part as Alan. However, I found the friends-to-lovers storyline distasteful, especially with Khaotung pining for an older man. It reeks of grooming young girls to think this is romantic, and it's disturbing that a Thai larkorn would normalize such pedophilic tendencies. The director, being a man, apparently didn't see anything wrong with it. Alan's love for Khaotung seemed shallow, merely based on her looks. She was a bland and boring eye candy in the series, and I couldn't believe the director made her book-smart but common-sense stupid, a typical Thai larkorn formula. They attempted to remake a Thai rom-com like "While You Were Sleeping" and failed.

If you enjoy toxic mother and brother characters, this series has plenty of prime content for you. The male lead comes across as a doormat, and the female lead is senseless and deceitful, playing nice but lying. The series is filled with enablers for these toxic characters, making it a larkorn that might appeal more to the Thai audience than international fans like me.

The only redeeming quality about the mother is that she mourned the death of the father, while everyone else seemed unaffected. Alan was unaffected by the father's death and made a funny comment to the mother about hers.

Despite having a cast of good actors, the crappy script and larkorn-style direction disappointed me.

Overall, it's worth watching for Pond's performance as Alan or if you're a hardcore larkorn fan. Otherwise, you might find yourself feeling frustrated and wanting to throw your iPad across the room, just like I wanted to on many occasions. If it wasn't for Pond's being in this series, I would not have watched this series at all.

Setup for disappointment

The first third was like the original. Then it slowly descended into Larkorn nonsense. I get that this series is shorter than the original and there are distinct differences between Thai and Chinese social norms and culture. Nut these weren’t the issue for me.

The issue was that a smart and savvy woman in business is make into an idiotic female trope once again. It seems like when women fall in love they are made to lose their sense and judgement which the men can still remain sane and normal.

Ray is a snake that any sane woman can spot right away especially once who is a savvy woman like Yin. It seems like Ray was given his redemption arc despite stealing someone else’s girlfriend just because he stop the marriage at the last minute. This is such fvckery that a man can steal someone else’s girlfriend, taunts the ex and be the delusional hero just because he can with the wealth and position he has. I am not ok with this kind of bullshit behavior of men.

Shane should’ve moved on from idol worship of Yin. She’s an idiot that she willingly gets into a relationship with someone much younger than herself. I mean a relationship with sex and all, but thinks getting together with an age appropriate man who she won’t even kiss or hold hands with is so,sone she should marry. Like what in the holy fvck is this shit. How can Shane tolerate this from such an idiotic woman? She’s a child with a child’s mentality. I don’t see the attraction for Shame other than her pretty face. I mean if Shane left her, he can find someone much more attractive than Yin who doesn’t have all her fvcked up baggage.

I wish Earth was a stronger actor but he isn’t. He isn’t terrible but he just steels so awkward as Yang. For a successful professional, he’s also acting like a toddler. I don’t like the teacher student relationship. I don’t care if it’s socially acceptable in Thailand but no one under 25 should be eyed by their 10 years older professor. It’s super creepy and reeks with inappropriateness. That storyline took me out in the original and it’s double so here.

The mom is super annoying and the dad was just pointless even with the dementia arc. I get that parents aren’t perfect but these were idiots. I guess that’s why they have idiots kids liek Yin ans Yang. The apples didn’t fall far from the tree.

Almost Perfect

The first part with the crown Prince was definitely riveting and angsty. This is what the synopsis is about. The synopsis did not hint or give away the second part of this series which garner mixed feelings.

I prefer to divide this up to 3 parts. The first is about the revenge and how FL was trained by ML to be an assassin. Unbeknownst to the ML, his actions is what lead to the outcome of his punishment. I like that he had suffer consequences of his actions because I do not like happy endings for MLs just because they are written as some kind of hero with some redemption arc. He poison Mei Lin and he trained her to be an assassin in harsh conditions after she became an orphan. Why should he escape feeling real remorse. For people who did not like MeiLin’s ending. I mean she was a nobody orphan who became the love interest of two crown Prince and became a princess and a no-fault empress. I say this is more than most people got to experience. She outlived a crown Prince and an imperial concubine. I don’t think she needs to be cured of an almost incurable poison just because it makes for your typical happy ending.

The middle part was about the romance and courtship of Meilin from not just Jinghe but the Prince Heir. While most people were unhappy with the death of the crown Prince. I think he got what he deserved. An insignificant death for a madman who was living large in his delulu life. I am glad he didn’t have the magnificent death in combat that would have made him the talk of the history annals. He was poison in jail as a nobody by the woman he loves. Probably the only person her loves kills him. That’s just desserts for me. He fades into insignificance after his death in the series. So much for his grandiose large than life self esteem.

The last part was what I would say the redemption arc Qingzhou. All the main characters moved there. It was about rebuilding the city. It was reclaiming the reputation for the Webei Army and general Wei bei in Qingzhou. I liked how Meilin became a person of significance when she left with the Prince Heir to Xilan. It was good to see all efforts were made to save her and still it went wrong because life never goes according to plan. The battle with the Weibei Army to save Qingzhou was a great full circle arc. I feel like the budget went to this battle rather than the battle with the crown Prince in the great Yan.

I a, perfectly fine with the ending. Mainline opened her cake shop. Jinghe gave MeiLin her happy ending. They got married. Jinghe even gave her the wedding she wanted. He became the bride and househusband just like she wanted. They had a happy ending in bed. It’s not as if having kids was her end game. Or being an empress. She just wanted to run a cake shop with her live-in husband helping out her mom’s cake shop. She never mentioned wanting kids. Considering she checked off everything on her bucket list I don’t need much else. There is a reason why we don’t see ML and FL decades into a marriage. It isn’t all one big honeymoon. If Meilin became Jinghe’s empress. I am sure there would be some kind of concubine drama. He remain loyal to her after he became emperor. Overall, it was the best kind of happy ending to me. The alternative cute meet was throwing fans a bone.

If this is a new grand of doing ending. I like to see more.

Delightful Bromance

I really lucked out on stumbling into this series. I had no expectations other than this being a bromance. This story is such a good binge of chemistry and visuals.

The story was cute and I like that they didn’t delve into their backstory of why they had a falling out 10 years ago to fill in with unnecessary scenes. I mean I much rather have the John Woo style Gun fight at episode 4 than that.

I really enjoyed the story of taking down the Japanese during their occupation in China. Yup, I think the Japanese are horrible since they were lethal during their occupation of China and South Korea. I’m glad for the ending because payback was so satisfying.

I really hope there will be a season 2 of this series. It was left open ended for a possible season 2 and even season 3 where our heroes Guan Yu and Weijie take down more Japanese baddies with the help of Li Tao.

Delightful Slice of Life Romance

I don’t know how the male lead is only 27 when he looks like he’s 37 next to the female lead.

From the comment section, a lot of people were upset about the lack of kissing and sex scenes. If you’re looking for that and not a good story with good acting, this isn’t the series for you. Guess people like to see some tonguing with the main couple. Others want a bedroom scene where they actually have sex rather than just the implied scenes where they go into the bedroom. Or the ML saying they’ve done everything except get marry. Maybe people are horny for it to determine if a series is good or not. Personally I don’t need the sex scenes if a series has no story to tell with bad acting that it needs gratuitous sex and kissing to sell the series.

It’s been a while since I have seen such a funny series. The series was so good that I was able to binge it in 3 days.

Cheng Yao is not your typical female protagonist which is why a lot of people find her annoying. They are expecting her to be formulaic to being helpless and needing a man to save her. She is strong willed and believe in using her strengths in unconventional ways to deal with the law and life.

Qian Heng is the tsundere ML who is humbled by the FL in many ways that he grows as person. If this is a trope it is t a boring one in the way it was executed by the actor and story arc.

Wu Jun is such a golden retriever with the FL sister Cheng Xi. I am glad she gave her ex hubby his just desserts in the end.

The Glory and Wealth gang was delightful to the office dynamics.

All the side characters were well fleshed out. The court cases are interesting. The female antagonist wasn’t needed but I guess with 36 episodes they need some juicy toxic drama thrown in.

The mom provided some ridiculous comic relief. Overall, it’s worth watching.
