plot based on the protagonist's revenge.
The female protagonists are both strong, smart and skillful.
Both drama have a lot of episodes but they are very exiting and never boring.
Princess Wei Young are better in costumes clothing and filming.

In "The Long Ballad" and "Princess Wei Young", the female lead has their family murdered and dedicated their lives for revenge.

If you want to fill the void that Scarlet Heart Ryeo left, this drama is a great reliever. Like Scarlet Heart, it is a historical drama wherein several princes are fighting for the throne and surprisingly *insert the sarcasm* they are also vying for the love of the heroine. But what makes it better is that it is well - written. It has 54 episodes, which I hope you have the patience to finish, so it isn't that rush, unlike you-know-who. The heroine in the story is so much better. We’re at the point in the story where our heroine is being stomped on and typically, she’d lose heart or stay cheery and upbeat in spite of her circumstances. But not Wei Young. She’s more of the, “You might have the upper hand now but I’m still not taking your shit.” type heroine. All in all, JUST WATCH IT :)

•Both female leads are the clever, strong and mature breed complete with "overly loyal sister-like maid" sidekick
•Both women are fighting for survival in an environment that is against their odds
•Both have a male lead who openly loves and favors the female lead which results in calamity
•Both dramas have the leads constantly fighting off schemes from other jealous female antagonists
•Both have some maids/eunuchs who are corrupt or betray
•Both shows have beautiful costumes and scenery

DISCLAIMER: Ruyi takes place in an actual royal harem in a totally different period and THERE IS NO REVENGE PLOT/IDENTITY THEFT. Also the male lead in Weiyoung is 100 TIMES BETTER than the one in Ruyi character wise.

With JJL series starting out automatically with her trying to survive with a fake identity it automatically remind me of Wei young.

- both FL have double identity
- both FL take on identity of their saviour
- both FL seek revenge
- both FL were wealthy and had high status, then lost everything

According to me these two dramas kind of has the same concept but It's not showed in the same way.
For starters, both of them hides their real identity.
In both Dramas there's two males fighting for the girl even though she only loves one of them.
Both of these female leads has to go through hell for their "happily ever after"

The series is produced by the same producers and crew as The Princess Weiyoung.
The overall plot is quite similar:
- Main actress is mistaken as a daughter of a wealthy family (the real daughter sacrifices herself/gets killed and ask the main actress to find her family)
- Main actor and actress don't know each others real identities at first and become friends
- Main actress wants revenge for her family by killing the main actor, but finds out they are actually friends, when they discover each others real identities

In both drama:
~ FL is the daughter of prime minister.
~ royals wants to marry FL.
~ there is power struggle.
~ reigning king died.
~ FL goes in a situation where she losses all the luxuries.

both have a beautiful love story..both leads are enemies at first before falling in love...both highly recommended!!!

Although both dramas could be considered vastly different and have different vibes, there are similar elements.

1. Female leads who gain strength through diversities to reach their destinations.
2. Strong lead chemistry.
3. Second male lead develops feelings towards female lead.
4. Supporting characters who make unexpected sacrifices to aid lead female.
5. A bittersweet ending.

I recommend these dramas if you liked either of them. Princess Wei Young is slightly more romantic and typical historical drama while Bloody Romance is unique and stands alone from others I have seen while still having a similar love story.
