Age Gaps (the good, the bad and the awkward)
this is like a study case to analyze age gaps for myself ;)
I tried to keep the gaps 5+ for both actor and/or character (excluding a few)
my complains about a noona romance would be about the way they are portraying the characters rather than the age gap.. in some dramas they get the mature older actress, but then they try too hard to make the her look and act "younger" or sad and incapable without the male lead, which just ruins the noona romance charm for me ;)
conclusion, the age gap is a problem when the older character is too mature while the younger person is less mature.. or when one gets too dependent on the other (but that's bad regardless of age gaps)..

1. Mr. Sunshine
Korean Drama - 2018, 24 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "20" : Kim Tae Ri (28). Lee Byung Hun (48)
- Character age gap "12" : Ae Sin is (26). Eugene (38)
both characters are mature yet naive in some ways, their characteristics match and somewhat complete each other..
Eugene trusts her to make her own choices... and at times when she's immature and naive, Eugene is composed and mature. but when she's calm, direct and honest, then Eugene gets all flustered and childish... also at times, both act composed and mature, or both act all silly and immature... -
2. Postnatal Care Center
Korean Drama - 2020, 8 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "9" : Uhm Ji Won (42).Yoon Park (33)
- Character age gap "7" : Oh Hyun Jin (41). Kim Do Yoon (34)
I finally found my perfect noona romance! She was smart, independent boss lady that kinda had a hard time expressing her emotions but she still tried to and he was the sweetest, most supportive loving husband and father that never misunderstood her
-
3. My Mister
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "18" : IU (25). Lee Sun Kyun (43)
- Character age gap "24" : Lee Ji An (21). Park Dong Hoon (45)
the age gap is larger than I thought, but this was not really focused on the romance, they were not a couple, but this was something stronger, human connection? the most beautiful purest heartbreaking healing love? Ji An was an independent girl, maybe too independent to the point she couldn't relay on someone else, and Dong Hoon showed her that it's ok to ask for help, it was society's fault to make her so ragged and reserved. on the other hand Dong Hoon was too calm and cold, he wouldn't show his true feelings so he doesn't burden people. overall, they both helped the other heal.

4. Zoeken: WWW
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "14" : Im Soo Jung (40). Jang Ki Yong (26)
- Character age gap "10" : Tammy (38). Park Mo Geon (28)
Good
- Actors age gap "13" : Lee Da Hee (34). Lee Jae Wook (21)
- Character age gap "7" : Scarlett (37). Seol Ji Hwan (30)
the 1st couple were a little overdramatic, but the 2nd couple were the definition of cute and also a great representation to both a big age gap and "actor playing older than he is"
-
5. Hotel del Luna
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
-
6. Itaewon Class
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
-
7. Spring Turns to Spring
Korean Drama - 2019, 32 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "5" : Lee Yoo Ri (39). Lee Jong Hyuk (44)
- Character age gap "7" : Kim Bo Mi (32). Lee Hyung Suk (39)
the romance is not the main focus, but this is a great example of a good age gap.. bomi always holds her own, she's sassy and outspoken.. hyung suk looks ragged and mean, and he has a temper, but he is not randomly mean..
-
8. Mama
Korean Drama - 2014, 24 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "17" : Song Yoon Ah (41). Hong Jong Hyun (24)
- Character age gap "N/A" : Han Seung Hee (N/A). Koo Ji Sub (N/A)
I can't find the characters age, and the romance was not a focus, but still, a cute worthy "noona romance".. she was competent and independent, a little too independent that she never let the male lead help her out even when she really needed it, and the way he "helped" her was more emotional support which made it really sweet..
-
9. Feel Good To Die
Korean Drama - 2018, 32 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "13" : Baek Jin Hee (28). Kang Ji Hwan (41)
- Character age gap "10?" : Lee Roo Da (N/A). Baek Jin Sang (N/A)
they didn't mention the age of the characters, but they did mention a 10 year age gap.. either way, this is a great example of age gap, they don't have a "mental age gap", if that makes sense, both are hilariously immature and petty, but they are also understanding and supportive of each other..
-
10. Room No. 9
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "10" : Kim Hee Sun (41). Kim Young Kwang (31)
- Character age gap "3" : Eulji Hae Yi (36). Ki Yoo Jin (33)
well, since WC is not a noona romance, I'd say this is the best example of a "noona romance". both were sucseesfull mature independent people, and KYK's natural aegyo was perfect ;p
the romance is not the main point so it doesn't satisfy a "noona romance fan" but it's still the perfect "noona romance" representation...
-
11. Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "11" : IU (23). Lee Joon Gi (34)
- Character age gap "N/A" : Go Ha Jin (25). Wang So (N/A)
+ Wang Jeong (N/A)
I couldn't find any of the male leads ages, but I remember something like baekhyun's 10th prince character was 16? 14? (well jisoo's 14th prince couldn't be any younger, you know since spoiler spoiler) ^^;
either way, the age didn't feel like a problem, kinda like MS, the 4th prince did not mistreat her for her age, he even stood by her decisions. well, no one seemed to put alot of weight on "too young"..
-
12. Bring It On, Ghost
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "10" : Kim So Hyun (18). Ok Taec Yeon (28)
- Character age gap "4" : Kim Hyun Ji (19). Park Bong Pal (23)
In the drama Kim Hyun Ji was a ghost for five years, so technically she was a 24 year old "noona". Taec Yeon's acting made him "feel" younger then his real age, so it was a good match, but there was a slight "awkwardness" in their kiss scenes.
-
13. Witch's Court
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "4" : Jung Ryeo Won (36). Yoon Hyun Min (32)
- Character age gap "3" : Ma Yi Deum (31). Yeo Jin Wook (34)
the romance was not the focus, and it's not a big age gap, but -since this is not a noona romance as I thought- both were mature calm independent people, and I loved how MYD was the one who initiated the flirting. Actually, it not being a noona romance made this fact better.
-
14. Splash Splash LOVE
Korean Special - 2015, 2 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "2" : Kim Seul Gi (24). Yoon Doo Joon (26)
- Character age gap "N/A" : Jang Dan Bi (18). King Sejong Yi Do (23?)
I thought this had a bigger age gap (actorwise, and characterwise). but apparently he was crowned a king at a "young age", and I read an interview with the writer(?) that said SYD was supposed to be a math teacher at JDB's college entrance exam.
-
15. Do You Like Brahms?
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "5" : Park Eun Bin (28). Kim Min Jae (23)
- Character age gap "0" : Chae Song Ah (29). Park Joon Young (29)
kim min jae looks maturer for his age so their age gap doesn't really show
-
16. Wednesday 3:30 PM
Korean Drama - 2017, 15 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "4" : Jin Ki Joo (28). Hong Bin (24)
- Character age gap "4" : Seon Eun Woo (31). Yun Jae Won (27)
I didn't know this was a noona romance, that makes it even cuter..
-
17. Who Are You: School 2015
Korean Drama - 2015, 16 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "5" : Kim So Hyun (16). Nam Joo Hyuk (21)
- Character age gap "0" : Kim Hyun Ji (16/17?). Park Bong Pal (16/17?)
+ Yook Sung Jae (20)
this is a good example of older actors playing highschoolers, the physical appearance and character personalities didn't feel awkward at all. both male leads have this boyish charms that made them fit for a teenage role..
another good example would be "sassy go go", but the age gap is too small to add on this list ;p
-
18. Old School Intern
Korean Drama - 2020, 24 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "4" : Han Ji Eun (33). Park Hae Jin (37)
- Character age gap "N/A" : Lee Tae Ri (28). Ga Yeol Chan (N/A)
I vaguely remember taeri being in her late 20s but they never mentioned yeolchan's age.
either way the age gap showed and even though they briefly discussed if a relationship between them would be awkward they didn't put too much weight on the age difference and I think they made a really great normal and modern couple.
-
19. Let's Eat
Korean Drama - 2013, 16 episodes
-
20. Angry Mom
Korean Drama - 2015, 16 episodes
Good. Awkward.
- Actors age gap "16" : Kim Hee Sun (38). Kim Young Kwang (22)
- Character age gap "16" : Jo Kang Ja (34?). Go Bok Dong (18?)
+ Teacher Park Noh Ah (27)
this was not a romance, it was more of a cute one sided crush from GBD, it might seem awkward because he's her daughter's age, but maybe after 5+ years it would work out xD
-
21. School 2017
Korean Drama - 2017, 16 episodes
-
22. I Hear Your Voice
Korean Drama - 2013, 18 episodes
Good. Awkward.
- Actors age gap "10" : Lee Bo Young (34). Lee Jong Suk (24)
- Character age gap "6-9 ?" : Jang Hye Sung (25-28 ?). Park Soo Ha (19)
this was my 2nd noona romance, especially one with such a big real age gap, I'm not too sure how much it was thoguh, Park Soo Ha was 9 and Jang Hye Sung was a highschooler when they met for the 1st time, I kinda think she was 16?, anyway, it was kinda awkward but in the beginning it was more of a 1 sided crush on PSH's side, and they didn't really get together until after the time skip, or 2.
-
23. Oh! My Lady
Korean Drama - 2010, 16 episodes
Good. Awkward.
- Actors age gap "7" : Chae Rim (31). Choi Shi Won (24)
- Character age gap "7" : Yoon Gae Hwa (35). Sung Min Woo (28)
This was my first noona romance, so I never expected them to end up together, the 2nd lead was older than her, and the romance seemed to be more focused on them, so I was really surprised at the end, but I guess the characters spent alot of time seeing each other's "true" personalities, so YGH and SMW ending up together seemed more natural.
-
24. Please Don't Meet the Man
Korean Drama - 2020, 10 episodes
lol what! she's 10 years older than him?! I did not see that coming xD
-
25. Student A
Korean Movie - 2018
-
26. Sunbae, doe die lippenstift niet op
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Good

27. Good Casting
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
-
28. Hi?
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
-
29. Hyena
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
Good
WHAT, she's 50?! wow she doesn't look a day over late 30s, I realllyyy didn't know this was an age gap! I thought they were the same age!
-
30. You Who Came from the Stars
Korean Drama - 2013, 21 episodes
Good
- Actors age gap "7" : Jun Ji Hyun (32). Kim Soo Hyun (25)
- Character age gap "??" : Cheon Song Yi (??). Do Min Joon (400)
wow KSH was 25 in this? lol I never felt the age gap here xD maybe cuz he was
"400" years older than her xD and we could assume she was playing her own age. -
31. Als het mooi weer is
Korean Drama - 2020, 16 episodes
Good. Awkward.
- Actors age gap "8" : Park Min Young (34). Seo Kang Joon (26)
- Character age gap "0" : Mok Hae Won (28). Im Eun Sub (28)
+ Lee Jae Wook (22)
the awkwardness came from the fact that I knew their real age gap xD the acting was really great and the only problem I had was with how Im Eun Sub's one sided crush for so long ;p
-
32. Go Ahead
Chinese Drama - 2020, 46 episodes
Good, Awkward
- Actors age gap "9" : Seven Tan (30). Song Wei Long (21)
- Character age gap "1" : Li Jian Jian (16). Ling Xiao (17)
+ Steven Zhang (25)
the drama shows them in different stages of their lives but for me the awkwardness here comes from the way the fl acts as a teen, she's overreacting and it feels more like she's being 12 than 16
the ml is doing a good job, he's calm without being cold and it's not burdensome
-
33. Go Back Couple
Korean Drama - 2017, 12 episodes
-
34. Kobold
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
Bad
- Actors age gap "12" : Kim Go Eun (25). Gong Yoo (37)
- Character age gap "881" : Ji Eun Tak (19). Kim Shin (900)
so this is a supernatural drama, so the "age gap" was not about the number, it was about Eun Tak's mental age, which was like 5. and Goblin's actions towards her seemed like a creepy ahjussi going after a young girl.. I didn't continue this for long, but I heard they really started their romance after a time skip, but I remember one scene where Eun Tak had her "1st drink" and it was too creepy to see Goblin's reactions..
-
35. Romantiek is een bonusboek
Korean Drama - 2019, 16 episodes
Bad
- Actors age gap "11" : Lee Na Young (40). Lee Jong Suk (29)
- Character age gap "5" : Kang Da Ni (37). Cha Eun Ho (32)
I didn't know the character age gap is that small, but I guess the real age gap is the problem.. she looks way older, he kinda looks younger than his age too, so it's really mismatched, especially since they knew each other since childhood and they never lost contact, so she feels like a constant reassuring real older sister who sees him as a kid, and I can't shake that image..
and the fact that they made her so miserable until the guy saves her makes it even worse...
-
36. Doctors
Korean Drama - 2016, 20 episodes
Bad
- Actors age gap "9" : Park Shin Hye (26). Gong Yoo (35)
- Character age gap "9" : Yoo Hye Jung (19). Hong Ji Hong (27)
she started as a "tough bully in school with a prickly personality that always goes wayward", but suddenly she lost all of her characteristics when she became older, she literally became characterless, especially around the HJH..
they met again as 31 and 40 year olds, so a it shouldn't have been a problem, but she acted more immaturely than her high school years, and he looked like a creepy ahjussi going through midlife crisis chasing after younger girls.. that one scene in the rain, when he started dancing, ew, I got chills xD
-
37. About Time
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Bad
- Actors age gap "9" : Lee Sung Kyung (28). Lee Sang Yoon (37)
- Character age gap "N/A" : Choi Michaela (28). Lee Do Ha (37)
their drama age is not available and I don't think it was mentioned, so I'll pretend they had their real age.
This was another case of female lead acting like a helpless poor innocent self righteous girl and the creepy old ajuhssi who "only wants to date her because he feels like it" kinda of a relationship..
-
38. Mama Fairy and the Woodcutter
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Bad
- Actors age gap "11" :Moon Chae Won (32). Seo Ji Hoon (21)
- Character age gap "674" : Sun Ok Nam (699). Kim Geum (25+)
+ Yoon Hyun Min (33)
this is kinda confusing, apparently in the webtoon she ends up with KG who is in his "late 20's" here, but I don't know if he is her "husband"... in the drama they seemed to be more focused on Jung Yi Hyun who is in his "early 30's".
the fairy is 699, but they usually see her as Go Doo Shim (67).. so seeing Seo Ji Hoon flirting with a 67 and even a 32 year old is too weird especially since he does not look or act as if he is in his late 20's.
and seeing Jung Yi Hyun with the 67 year old grandma is just as bad...
-
39. Mr. Back
Korean Drama - 2014, 16 episodes
Bad
- Actors age gap "7" : Jang Na Ra (33). Shin Ha Kyun (40)
- Character age gap "35?" : Eun Ha Soo (30s). Choi Go Bong (70)
+ Lee Joon (26).
The drama is a supernatural story of a 70 year old that transforms back to his 30s physical appearance. the actor's age gap was not a problem, but the weird father/son love triangle and a 70's interest in someone his son's age was creepy.
and with that ending the whole drama seems pointless..
-
40. Memories of the Alhambra
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
-
41. Dear Sister
Japanese Drama - 2014, 10 episodes
Bad
- Actors age gap "17" : Ishihara Satomi (28). Tanabe Seiichi (45)
- Character age gap "15" : Fukazawa Misaki (27). Sakuraba Soichiro (42)
I thought this was about sisterhood but all I got was 2 brothers who liked the young sister and 2 sisters who liked an incredibly creepy married older guy who was their teacher and they fought over who had the right to confess to him... and reading the spoilers below he was extremely creepy ;/ though granted she ended up with skater dude who was her age.
- Actors age gap "8" : Matsushita Nao (29). Hirayama Hiroyuki (37)
- Character age gap "7" : Fukazawa Hazuki (29). Hagiwara Youhei (36)
on the other hand I did not have any issues with the sister and her love interest (after she got over the teacher)
-
42. Baby-faced Beauty
Korean Drama - 2011, 20 episodes
Bad
- Actors age gap "5" : Jang Na Ra (30). Choi Daniel (25)
- Character age gap "7" : Lee So Yeong (34). Choi Jin Wook (27)
in some ways, this whole thing was bad xD and it's the type of dramas I mean when I say "they use an older actress to make her immature and incompetent ".. here the male lead was just as immature and incompetent..
-
43. Hajimete Koi wo Shita Hi ni Yomu Hanashi
Japanese Drama - 2019, 10 episodes
Bad
- Actors age gap "14" : Fukada Kyoko (37). Yokohama Ryusei (23)
- Character age gap "13" : Harumi Junko (31). Yuri Kyohei (18)
I got annoyed with how they portrayed her as a really OLD useless woman ;/ her back hurt, she walked with a cane, she thought no one will ever find her attractive anymore, her mom nagged her to get married already becasue she's past her prime. and she couldn't even walk straight without falling ;/
also I dropped it so I don't know if they end up together, but the student/teacher thing was creepy and though she didn't see him as anything more than a student he liked her all along and the writer kept adding situations that'd make them "hug" and she'd act clingy when drunk and that's when he started liking her "when she was acting immature".
- Actors age gap "14" : Fukada Kyoko (37). Yokohama Ryusei (23)
-
44. When a Snail Falls in Love
Chinese Drama - 2016, 21 episodes
Bad
- Actors age gap "5" : Olivia Wang (29). Wang Kai (34)
- Character age gap "N/A" : Xu Xu (N/A). Ji Bai (N/A)
this is funny, I thought she was older than him, but now it makes sense why she was acting so naive and airheaded ;/
tbh the poster looked like the fl was smart and confident but she was annoying and the ml was too cold and smug and that's why I don't like cdramas they use this trope more than kdramas
- Actors age gap "5" : Olivia Wang (29). Wang Kai (34)
-
45. Go Go Squid!
Chinese Drama - 2019, 41 episodes
Bad
- Actors age gap "1" : Yang Zi (27). Li Xian (28)
- Character age gap "10" : Xu Xu (19). Ji Bai (29)
the problem again is cdramas obsession with cute, tiny bright fl x cold, tall and dark ml and they over did it with the contrast that it was just annoying.
the fl was too obsessive and she'd cry when he said he didn't like her and she never took no for an answer ;/
- Actors age gap "1" : Yang Zi (27). Li Xian (28)
-
46. Racket Boys
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
Bad
this is not a romance but their age gap is so awkward. they cast 17-19 year olds as 11-13 year olds then also added a 12 year old, like in no way is their age gap 1 or 2 years! why didn't they just make them highschoolers, tbh the 12 year old had higher chance to look/feel 14 than those boys have at being middle schoolers...
-
47. Doctor John
Korean Drama - 2019, 32 episodes
-
48. When I Was The Most Beautiful
Korean Drama - 2020, 32 episodes
Bad, Awkward
- Actors age gap "3" : Im Soo Hyang (30). Ji Soo (27)
- Character age gap "3?" : Oh Ye Ji (21?). Seo Hwan (18?)
+ Ha Seok Jin (38)
The awkward thing here is the fact that she marries the brother before the main romance "starts" xD
I don't know the characters' ages, but they said she's a student teacher about to graduate, so she's about 21-25? and hwan is in highschool so about 16-18?
and they'll meet again as adults. so like even if they are student/teacher their age gap was small and their chemistry felt natural? also the fl refuses him and tells him "you are only a student" and I think she's more normal around him, as opposed to how naive she gets around the older brother, but the writing is super horrible ;D
-
49. Something in the Rain
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Awkward
- Actors age gap "6" : Son Ye Jin (36). Jung Hae In (30)
- Character age gap "4" : Yoon Jin Ah (35). Seo Joon Hee (31)
I dropped this, but I didn't feel the hype or the chemistry, and I didn't like the female character..
-
50. Exactly What’s Going On?
Korean Drama - 2015, 10 episodes
Bad, Awkward
- Actors age gap "14" : Go Eun Mi (39). Ahn Jae Hyo (25)
- Character age gap "15" : Lee So Yeong (40). Choi Jin Wook (25)
+ Han Na (10)
so if anyone has a problem with age gaps should watch this.. there's nothing worse than the 40 year old turning 10.. it's just weird...
now there was nothing "unnatural" here. he though the 10 year old was the 40 year olds daughter, so it's like she could see the young guys true "feelings" while he was sweet to "her daughter", like a non detective conan girl vr.. but still she was too mature, even as a 10 year old, so they didn't really "match"... overall not a good romance and weak writing...
though if they could work so can Angry Mom ;)
-
51. Wok of Love
Korean Drama - 2018, 38 episodes
Awkward
- Actors age gap "9" : Jung Ryeo Won (37). Lee Jun Ho (28)
- Character age gap "2" : Dan Sae Woo (33). Seo Poong (31)
well, they didn't address the age until ep10, but she did not act like a 33 year old, and rather than the age gap, the immaturity of the female lead (and sometimes the male lead) was the main problem..
-
52. My ID is Gangnam Beauty
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Awkward
- Actors age gap "6" : Im Soo Hyang (28). Cha Eun Woo (21)
- Character age gap "0" : Kang Mi Rae (18). Do Kyung Suk (18)
if I have a problem with young actors acting older, I have the same problem with old actors playing young... I dropped this after the 1st ep so I didn't get to see their "chemistry", but she did not act or look 18... I didn't know they were supposed to be 18, that makes it worse (at least they could've let the guy go to the army before college, and the girl take a break for her surgery)
-
53. Radio Romance
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Awkward
- Actors age gap "10" : Kim So Hyun (19). Yoon Doo Joon (29)
- Character age gap "N/A" : Song Geu Rim (20s). Ji Soo Ho (20s)
+ Yoon Park (31)
the drama age gap is not clear, probably they were "same aged friends", but the awkwardness here was in making KSH act as someone in her mid 20s.
-
54. Love in the Moonlight
Korean Drama - 2016, 18 episodes
Awkward
- Actors age gap "6" : Kim Yoo Jung (17). Yoon Gyun Sang (23)
- Character age gap "1" : Hong Ra On (18). Lee Yeong (19)
I think all dramas should specify their characters ages, but the awkwardness here is mainly the fact that she did not look like a man xD
-
55. Clean With Passion For Now
Korean Drama - 2018, 16 episodes
Awkward
- Actors age gap "10" : Kim Yoo Jung (19). Yoon Gyun Sang (31)
- Character age gap "N/A" : Gil Oh Sol (24?). Jang Sun Gyeol (25s?)
+ Song Jae Rim (33)
it's early, but just like RR, it feels awkward to see a 19 year old who looks her age play someone in her mid 20s, and JSG looks too mature in comparison..
-
56. Unforgettable
Korean Movie - 2016
Awkward
- Actors age gap "6" : Kim So Hyun (17). Do Kyung Soo (23)
- Character age gap "N/A" : Soo Ok (16?). Beom Shil (17?)
the acting was amazing, the only awkwardness was in the umbrella kiss scene (if only the umbrella was closer) xD
-
57. Flower Boy Ramen Shop
Korean Drama - 2011, 16 episodes
Awkward
- Actors age gap "3" : Lee Chung Ah (27). Jung Il Woo (24)
- Character age gap "4" : Yang Eun Bi (22?). Cha Chi Soo (18)
again no available age for the characters, but he's a senior and she's preparing to be a teacher.. overall, they tried a "student/teacher" relationship with the smallest age gap possible so it wouldn't get weird. and it was a little "awkward" because he didn't look like a highschooler xD
-
58. Powerful Opponents
Korean Drama - 2008, 16 episodes
Awkward
- Actors age gap "2" : Chae Rim (29). Lee Jin Wook (27)
- Character age gap "N/A" : Cha Yeong Jin (27). Kang Soo Ho (N/A)
+ Yu Kwan Pil (N/A)
not bad though... this is another drama with unknown age gap, in some points it could be same aged friends or a noona romance, but KSH's character was really immature at times, so I kinda assumed the romance would be with the more mature YKP.. though I can't remember much about the ending ;)
-
59. Cheese in the Trap
Korean Drama - 2016, 16 episodes
Awkward
- Actors age gap "8" : Kim Go Eun (25). Park Hae Jin (33)
- Character age gap "2" : Hong Seol (23). Yoo Jung (25)
+ Seo Kang Joon (23)
the ages are from the webtoon and the Baek twins were supposedly 26, so you can see how awkward it is for a 23 year old to be older than a 33 year old.
tbh I was team inho, and though he was younger I didn't find it too odd for his character to be older than her, but yoo jung just felt like a professor instead of a sunbae (or a dongsaeg xD)

60. I Wanna Hear Your Song
Korean Drama - 2019, 32 episodes
Awkward
- Actors age gap "13" : Kim Se Jung (22). Yeon Woo Jin (35)
- Character age gap "N/A" : Hong Yi Young (26). Jang Yoon (N/A)
+ Kim Sang Gyun (24) and Kim Shi Hoo (31)
this is pretty confusing, KSH "Ian Kim" is presumably her ex and also JY's younger brother, but I don't think they specify how old any of the guys are... while KSG her other ex calls her noona, while acting like a 5 year old, so....
The good thing here is that sejung is a really acceptable 26 year old, she has alot of the typical cliche female lead traits, like tripping every second, being jobless and mistreated, but it's not severe..
the awkward thing here is that I don't feel the romance, I specifically don't get how yiyoung feels a romance from a guy that's so elusive and creepy...

Korean Drama - 2011, 15 episodes

62. Temperatuur van liefde
Korean Drama - 2017, 40 episodes
N/A
- Actors age gap "7" : Seo Hyun Jin (32). Yang Se Jong (25)
- Character age gap "N/A" : Lee Hyun Soo (N/A). On Jung Sun (N/A)
this is a drama I kinda wanna repick up.. I dropped it after ep8, but my problem was when she suddenly started talking to the flower when (as I remember) she was not even drunk... so how innocent and naive do they want her to be... though it has a "smart female lead" tag so it might not be what I assumed it was...

N/A
- Actors age gap "14" : Jung So Min (31). Shin Ha Kyun (45)

I didn't really want to watch this, but I can still feel the awkward..

72. The Light in Your Eyes
Korean Drama - 2019, 12 episodes
N/A
- Actors age gap "11" : Han Ji Min (36). Nam Joo Hyuk (25)
- Character age gap "0" : Kim Hye Ja (25). Lee Joon Ha (25)
+Kim Hye Ja "old" (77)
this is like the super junior of age gaps, I usually have a hard time explaining the "current member" situation in suju to my friends xD
so, firstly we have a 36 year old playing a 25 year old, which would usually bother me, but HJM does a pretty convincing job, it's all about the eyes..
things get complicated by old KHJ, the actress actually has a youthful vibe, but her character and the plot around her is mostly about "the daily lives of old people" rather than her old self's chemistry with LJH which just seems like an old meddlesome lady ;)

73. I'm Breaking Up Now
Korean Drama - 2021, 16 episodes
N/A
- Actors age gap "11" : Song Hye Kyo (39). Jang Ki Yong (28)

big gap noona romances seems to be the trend now..

N/A
- Actors age gap "11" : Seo Hyun Jin (36). Kim Young Dae (25)
- Character age gap "??" : Oh Soo Jae (??). Law student (20s)
even though it didn't air yet, the fact that they're "student and teacher" is making this between bad and awkward.
