i know some people are a little unsatisfied about the ending being an open one, without showing how him returning to the past and changing it affects the future.well they could've taken this drama forward in different directions according to what the writers imagined them since the midway of the second half, and i believe the path they took has been a really impressive ride after considering multiple factors to keep the viewers engaged and immersed into the characters.there was not one single moment that i found this to be a drag, contrary to what some people thought.in fact i was a crying mess at the 'final' scene. i probably felt as empty as the actors when they completed filming for this drama.definitely top of my faves list. will come back for a rewatch after more time has passed, LOL.

Park Kwang Ho's emotional scenes in this are plenty, almost linear and well spread-out, but Kim Sun Jae's although sparse, but his are the most intense emotional outbursts i have seen anywhere in a k-drama, probably ever. the most memorable scene about him in the entire drama was the intense physical fighting between him and Jung Ho Young in the woods in ep. 10 when he almost killed Shin Jae Yi. but i forgot there's actually another one when Jung Ho Young confessed to killing Sun Jae's mother 30 years ago to mock him, when he actually did not. and Sun Jae almost killed this bastard again, LOL. well, he just briefly choked him, but his anger was definitely intense.it's what almost well-known of about his personality type. the quiet, repressed people are a lot scarier when they get angry or lose their sh*t, phewww.i find this duo's tandem really amusing to watch. when one of them loses his temper, the other one is usually pretty calm, LOL.i also had another scene that i really liked in the whole duration of the drama that happened exactly in this episode. that is after Shin Jae Yi woke up after almost being killed by Jung Ho Young, she made a witness statement and then her body recalls the traumatic experience so she was almost hallucinating and shivering. the girl who kept on saying she's okay previously even when she's not, finally broke down and confessed that she's not okay, and that she was hurt/in pain until Sun Jae hugged her.also Park Kwang Ho was just by the door listening to their conversation, while he couldn't help but cry after realising how much his daughter was hurt, and how close he was to losing her.also, it's truly phenomenal how much of an impact it is to the story when a great actor who also looks creepy plays the role of a serial killer, the likes of Jung Ho Young. all the confrontation/interrogation scenes between him and the duo are utterly phenomenal.gahhh, this drama can seriously sweep clean all the acting awards, g'damnit!

ouh God, here we go.the most hated episode…

ouh God, here we go.the most hated episode in the entire series by a lot of people (well, not me).halfway through the episode, Jung Ho Young called Kim Sun Jae again because he was triggered by what his mother said about him in TV interview.Shin Jae Yi overheard the phone call, and intervened. she validates Jung Ho Young who kept repeating that some of the other murders like the Haein River murder was not his. she also tried to provoke him by asking if it was hatred for his mother that made him kill women.Park Kwang Ho was fuming in anger about that, because he's afraid that her validation and provocation of him will only trigger him to commit another murders. so he warned her angrily that if there is someone else who died after that, the responsibility is on her.after that she probably was thinking deeply about what Park Kwang Ho said, and decided to offer herself as a bait by coming out in a TV interview, to avoid another woman being murdered.the biggest problem is that she lured the serial killer out without any backup plan to safeguard her safety LOL. and true enough if she wasn't lucky that the detectives were quick enough to run to her rescue, she would've died then. SHE WAS THAT STUPID!as someone who've only enjoyed this drama for what it has offered, even i had to spend some time away to think about whether that serious flaw in the writing is lethal enough for me to take this drama off my favourites list.but eventually i know i don't want to. SIMPLY BECAUSE THE DRAMATISM WORKED ON ME, LOL.of course when i say this i am not saying i am condoning the unthinkable level of stupidity that was illustrated. i am just saying that sometimes she comes across as over-confident and at the same time naive, therefore people like this are bound to make the stupidest mistakes.you know, like those people who are cheated a lot of money off financial scams, but are actually well-educated.so i am just gonna move along and take the entirety of that as not entirely illogical on her part, considering the way she's written.phewww. glad to get that off my chest. let's move on with the story, shall we.

what the fckkkkk is that mind fuckery?!holy sh*t. even i feel like tripping watching this drama LOL, can't imagine being Han Tae Joo who's relinquishing all those painful childhood memories again deep from his subconsciousness.i can relate to comments comparing this drama to Tunnel. i definitely liked Tunnel a lot more because the chase on the serial killer 30 years into the future is a very gripping theme permeating every aspect of the story. and i feel like they very successfully maintained the intensity of the chase from start to end.but here, the chase is more subdued/working in the background (yet again, very well-paced) and psychological (in a way, the story rather goes in spirals instead of moving forward smoothly) and it kinda DRIVES YOU CRAZY AND MESSES UP YOUR MIND REAL BAD the same way it did Han Tae Joo's. i was definitely not particularly fond of the retro style with the back time travel (that's why this is my third time starting this), but the very skilled screenwriting literally flipped me and won me over, LOL! it's pulling me in a very strange way, and it drives me nuts LMAO.this is a highly skilled writer (more so, of the original) who's fully in control or in-tune of the story/narrative that he's trying to tell/pursue and the last 8 episodes have been pretty mind-blowing.honestly, a story this complex can easily be messed up from the execution point of view and the director here is really doing his job amazingly.i can't wait to see what the next 8 episodes will bring!

wow, the hostage situation.thanks to the viewers who shared that this was a real life event that shockingly was broadcast live on TV all over Korea at the time. and the facts of the scene were almost as accurate as what happened to the hostage-takers.there's also a movie based off it, which i am going to watch.now i understand why 1988 has been a feature year in two dramas that did well. one was Reply 1988, and then this. it's because Korea hosted the Olympics Games at the time, and without my knowing, they acted exactly like the government of Brazil when they hosted their own Olympics.they chased poor people out of their shabby neighborhoods. good Lord!now that i am going further into this and seeing the charm of it, i am understanding all the praises for it. compared to Reply 1988, this drama is definitely more to my taste. would be so nice if there's another drama in the future that also base itself off the year 1988 and tell the stories surrounding this huge government scandal around the hosting of the Olympics.something like Snowdrop? yet to check that one out.writers putting out scripts that include serious social/historical critique are truly commendable!

THIS IS SO EFFING GOOD and yes b*tches, we are only halfway, pheww

ep. 7-8goodness, wow!YOU CAN'T BELIEVE HOW MUCH I AM ENJOYING THIS, AS SOMEONE WHO RUNS AWAY THE FURTHEST FROM THIS GENRE.it's incredibly well-written, well-shot and well acted. just a phenomenal drama all around, wow!i finished ep. 6, an episode of which i highly praised the young woman acting as the possessed who's about to go on a killing rampage to seek revenge on her boyfriend who committed suicide due to workplace bullying.the exorcism scene was utterly phenomenal, and felt so real. that she stole the episode for me, and i became afraid that this was gonna repeat for the remainder of the show - that the trio lead characters are not gonna leave me that much of an impact as do the extras.but immediately as i finished ep. 7, hell no i was proven wrong.the trio were fighting with each other because they suspected the assemblywoman as Park Il Do, but cannot agree on whether to proceed as a group or as a duo (and that too, which pairing to boot, LOL).also, heightened tension because the surviving witness of the school girl who was missing (murdered 20 years ago) was killed because they acted late, and Hwang Pyung went amok because of it.and just like that, the writers knew to bring back the spotlight to our trio heroes as they should!//surprisingly, i became more aware of how much i love and adore Hwang Pyung as the adult character in this, a sharp contrast to the other two as we witnessed in ep. 8.he has been able to keep a bright personality despite carrying such a huge childhood trauma/wound, and he's extremely fierce/relentless about trying to make sure that others don't suffer the same fate as him.THIS CHARACTER COULD NOT HAVE BEEN ACTED BETTER, HE'S FLAWLESS IN IT!in this episode too, i didn't expect the story of A CHILD who's psychic (can see spirits) and ended up murdering her own father because of the evil spirits that she saw lurking around him. goodness! and now those evil spirits that were lurking around her father are now taking over her body, aigoooooo.when i thought the stellar acting performance by the guest actor in ep. 6 cannot be topped, here comes another legend in the making, phewww.again, this episode's case has incredible shock factor, suspense, stellar acting and smooth write up, wow.FUCKIN BRILLIANT! I REALLY DON'T WATCH THIS GENRE BUT YOU TOTALLY CONVERTED ME WRITER-NIM! CANNOT GET A MORE FLATTERING REVIEW THAN THIS ANYWHERE.p/s thanks also to all k-drama fanatics who keep putting this on a list of most recommended k-dramas everywhere on the internet, LOL.

unbelievable, but all the extras are stealing the show!!!

wow.that was an absolutely fckin brilliant episode! i am truly sold in this.i had a feeling from the preceding episodes, but this episode just proved my gut feeling.that the lead actors in this are overshadowed by the stellar performance by all the extras who act as the possessed.and the young woman in this particular episode was truly phenomenal. she's such an average face but her acting skill is TOP NOTCH!! i don't even think i have seen her in anything else before this but she acts the role so flawlessly like a true veteran LOL. she impressed me so much. she had so much screen time in this entire episode and she truly owned every second, wow.she's creepy, strong and uncontrollably crazy when she needs be, and sad/fragile/broken/hurt/vulnerable when she is.the lead actors really gotta up their game from this episode on LOL, if not to have their thunder stolen by all these phenomenal, super talented extras LMAO.

absolutely brilliant!i loved the twist that the illegitimate son of Assemblyman Choi is as sick and twisted/evil as his father in the real world. he really does comes across as a creep that reminds me of Jang Jun Woo in Vincenzo, LOL.well i really wanted the wife of Assemblyman to be safe when she decided to work with the prosecution side, but we could see that she was prone to be victimised so it should not have surprised me that she was gonna end up dead trying to save her son, sighh.on other note, i so loved Rain's acting in this. i wished i had seen his earlier works so i could make a comparison but i have only seen him in Full House, and that was it. i loved how brilliantly he's pulling off the character of someone who plays a wicked lawyer, prosecutor who tries to do things right, a father/husband all at once.when some people say Rain is carrying this show on his back, they are not joking LOL. but the script has been incredibly good too! and i am pleased to know that the rating was great for this during airing.

great, now i have fully warmed up to the story.when i started, i couldn't expect or predict the direction of which the story is going because of the take in alternate universe.and now things are unfolding bit by bit, i am fully invested.the story is really complex and i find the pacing to be outstanding!we could see his moral dilemma from someone who's living the high class society life to someone who's suddenly downgraded to a mere civil servant life with mediocre life and family (wife and kids) he has never chosen, it's been difficult.so at this point when he's contemplating to quit the prosecutor job and take up the lawyer position with the same old firm that he's working with in World 1, it didn't faze me. i.e. i am not judging. i am trying to understand him, especially because he already decided to fight evil at the end of ep. 2 before he was tele-transported to World 2.wanting to enjoy the fine things in life is fine, it's usually the means to get there that is problematic. so his choice is too early for me to judge. maybe he's not making the same choice of going back to work for his old boss, rather actually trying to outsmart him and solve the case that involves his wife's older brother.i do wonder however whether at this point if the writer will truly go down that route, or make a meaningful u-turn where he will choose not to quit his prosecutor job instead after rethinking it, and become an interesting grey character (prosecutor) that retains his wickedness quality as a hotshot lawyer but somehow managed to be happier with less materialism or finer things in life.also i wanna see how the original character in World 1 is dealt with, because alternate universes are obviously a recipe for disaster if not dealt with well.and obviously from the high praises, seem like this genre was dealt with intelligently. can't wait to find out more.this has been as outstanding to me as when i watched Signal and Tunnel. what a really smart writing, kajaa! ^^

this is a good rewatch. since i don't…

this is a good rewatch. since i don't have a very clear memory of what exactly happened after her miscarriage and their separation.so she went to Paris with Daniel Pitt and then they came back after 3 years where she's now an artist Ellie Kim who's also holding her own art exhibition.Daniel Pitt is truly a patron in her life in every sense of the word LOL, and that after party where friends asked them about their first kiss, and that he admitted that they haven't had one was really kinda shocking as i can admit from the comments LOL.Daniel Pitt was portrayed as a player from the first scene he appeared in the drama, where he was on a flight and coincidentally on the same flight to Korea as Se Ra where she then mocked him for flirting, and listening to it all.and now we are to accept that he's been by her side for 3 years out of goodwill only and been completely okay/patient/like a monk with having not moved past friendship at all, when he's literally crazy about her? something's not clicking LOL with the way Daniel Pitt is written. how i wish he was much better written, i mean A LOT more realistically. and more complex. and more edgy. or not too calm and level-headed all the time.because he in this drama is behaving so excruciatingly simple-mindedly for someone of his status that it hurts LOL. and makes it quite unbelievable to boot. i wish he had a stronger role to play in the story with another subplot that focuses just on him and his emotional dilemma, apart of and independent from his selfless nature with Kim Mi Young.I GUESS I AM MORE FRUSTRATED THAT DANIEL PITT AS A CHARACTER FEELS LIKE A DOWNGRADE FROM CJH'S EARLIER WORK IN 2014'S EMERGENCY COUPLE TO THIS. AS AN ACTOR, HE TRULY HAS SO MUCH RANGE TO GIVE, AND THIS CHARACTER FAILS HIM MISERABLY.well i guess it makes sense if you really think carefully about it. he's waiting for a person who's been divorced before, so inevitably the wall she's building for another relationship is too great and it's not completely unrealistic that he'll never want to force anything on her before she lets him in. it can also be true and plausible that having her company is enough for him in that relationship stage without having her reciprocating on his feelings yet.well i guess this drama is making a really good case of what choice people end up making when they are confronted with choosing a person you love and never moved on from, vs. someone who you are always grateful for, but to you always only remained platonic.i guess most people would always choose they person they love. because now i remember the first half being about Lee Gun choosing her back. but now it's about who she's choosing.

well what can i say.i was rewatching FTLY and The Last Empress for CJH and then paused halfway. before that i also rewatched The Heirs for him, LOL.in all these dramas his characters are stiff and so classy, while in here he's kinda tacky and unclassy. this is the first edgy ML character that i see him play who is so unsophisticated and punchable LOL.i love his various expressions so much, he's so good in rom-com. my man can literally play anything. well i figured that out only after watching Zombie Detective, without watching his earlier works first. so i was shooketh at how good he is.also in this episode he had to piggyback drunk Oh Jin Hee all the way from in front of the hospital to multiple floors with the stairs to the sleeping room. he looked so exhaused doing it, LOL. he had scenes where he carried Jang Nara too in TLE but those scenes were simpler, the FL is tinier and he was bulkier. here he really suffered to act that scene LOL, my poor thing.also that closing scene when he looked at her sleeping, caringly. and he brushed off her hair off her face. i really wanna know more of their backstory, yasss. i want to know what really happened during their marriage, and how they can grow from that experience both as individuals and as a couple.the scenes when he got wildly jealous at the CPR practice, and how she hugged Chief Gook after finding out that she's not getting dismissed from her job were so funny HAHAHA.goshh, this drama is so good! i didn't expect it to be this smooth!watching him play the ML character in this drama is akin to as if he was the one playing the ML in FTLY, which was what i almost wanted. haha

i am insanely enjoying this drama. i love the passive aggressive energy between the lead pairing as well as the sassiness of their investigation team, haha. i also love the way he cares for and protects her in his own ways, while staying patient and gentle with her. they literally got me in the first 3 minutes of the drama, the opening scene really made an impression on me.i said that it feels like a mashup of Suspicious Partner and Miss Hammurabi. i just realised the more i watched that it also gives me similar feels that i had when i watched I Hear Your Voice, which is a huge compliment because i scored that drama very highly. and the pace has been perfect too, like in IHYV. their first meeting, good Lord. i was taken aback by how smooth-like-butter he flirted with her during their first meeting, haha. he met her in distress, and he was in the position to rescue her away from the situation. she asked if he can lend her a small amount of money, which he did. and then when she asked for his bank account details, he wrote down details to meet the second time HAHAHA!so cute!and now because of the unfolding of their complicated 'mysterious' past, she suspects him as the culprit to her younger brother's death, and he keeps denying but she doesn't trust him. so he said i have the evidence that i wasn't the culprit, and HE KISSED HER!HAHAHA. the heart attack i got. MY MAN'S SO FREAKING SMOOTH! GOOD FCKIN BYE!of course this is Choi Jin Hyuk we are talking about. good Lord this man drives me crazyyyy.

the writer has lost most people by this point but surprisingly i feel like this is the kind of drama that is made just for people like me! haha.exactly regarding how Kang Gi Beom's wife character was dealt with in this episode. i particularly notice this is like action melodrama, so i expected that he won't exactly have a happy ending in that sense. and every acting in the most bewildering scenes in this episode was just so perfect, i really was sobbing.and also because they decided on that trope, we can now see how Kang Gi Beom is going totally berserk, almost to the point of losing total judgement and be taken over by the AI eyes.i am excited for how the story is going to go from here.
