The film, which became a blockbuster in Japanese cinemas in its time, is really very different, it is a look at the Japanese society of that time and for many viewers, including me, surprising, even though I am familiar with Japanese works. The first two or three scenes on the beach are enough. For me, the best of the evaluation criteria is clearly a story that in many passages overcame the comic component, which disappeared, but sometimes, on the contrary, slipped into farcicality, forced laughter, a brawl ala ragdoll kindergarten. But the positives prevail. Simply Japan ... and again a little different.

Film, který se ve své době stal trhákem v japonských kinech je opravdu hodně jiný, je to pohled na japonskou společnost tehdejší doby a pro mnohého diváka, i pro mě, překvapivý, ač jsem obeznámen s japonskou tvorbou. Stačí první dvě tři scény na pláži. Pro mě je jednoznačně nejlepší z kritérií hodnocení příběh, který přebil v mnohých pasážích komickou složku, která zanikla, ale někdy naopak sklouzla až do fraškovitosti, nucený smích, rvačka ala hadra školka. Převažují ale pozitiva. Prostě Japonsko ... a zase trochu jiné.

I didn't quite understand why the film was in black and white. Two friends, when for a certain part of their lives they are destined to share one small apartment of the artistically gifted Tod. Rošťák Hao almost bewitched me, and the message of the film, especially at the end, is clear, even though I had doubts the whole time, which I won't reveal. Again, something a little different from what we are used to in Taiwan.


Moc jsem nepochopil, proč je ten film černobílý. Dva přátelé, kdy určitý výsek života je jim souzen sdílet jeden malý byt umělecky nadaného Toda. Rošťák Hao mě téměř učaroval a sdělení snímku, především v závěru, je jasné, i když jsem celou dobu byl na pochybách, které neprozradím. Zase trošku něco jiného, než jsme na Taiwan zvyklí.

A film about almost nothing and actually about everything. I liked him. Freed from Pinoy slurs and mannerisms of the type of affected and twisted aunts, whining and tragic scenes, it goes about its business and simply conveys what the creators had in mind... When I think back on the short, I think it's an excellent piece.

Film skoro o ničem a vlastně o všem. Líbil se mi. Oproštěn od pinoy nánosů a manýr typu afektovaných a vykroucených tetek, kňučení a tragédních scén, si jde za svým a jednoduše sděluje to, co měli tvůrci na mysli ... Když nad kraťasem přemýšlím zpětně, je to dle mě výborné dílko.

Too much Filipino movie. The story would work, although here too, more script could be used, the music is very good, as is often the case with Pinoys. The acting is average, I deduct five points, especially some of the characters, at the beginning Harry was making me laugh out loud. Otherwise, I found the two main symposia to be nice, but the creators were not well led. Sometimes even tragic and hysterical scenes and stretching. In a nutshell: a rather solid piece with great potential that was not fully utilized. Personally ... the sound-music is probably the best thing about this movie.


Film filipínský až moc. Příběh by šel, i když i tady by se dalo vytěžit více scénářem, hudba velmi dobrá, jak bývá u pinoy mnohy zvykem. Herectví průměrné, ubírám pět bodů, především některých postav, na začátku vytahoval Harry smích až z paty. Jinak ti dva hlavní mi přišli fajn sympoši, ale nebyli tvůrci dobře vedeni. Někdy až tragédní a hysterické scény a protahování. V kostce: spíše solidní dílko s velkým potenciálem, který nebyl plně využit. Osobně ... zvuk-hudba je v tomto filmu asi tím nejlepším, co ve něm je.

Controversial film based on reality, for the last scene of the film I significantly reduce the point rating for the story. Otherwise, I have to admit that this is also how relationships turn out, and it would be confusing to only make films with gay themes and fairy-tale endings, that's the world. Of the four main characters, my wife Amanda (Dimples Romana and rightly won in her category at MMFF 2022) and Mathew (Sean de Guzman) impressed me the most. Processing very solid.

Kontroverzní film dle skutečnosti, za poslední scénu filmu výrazně snižuji bodové hodnocení za příběh. Jinak ale musím přiznat, že i takto dopadají vztahy a bylo by matoucí točit jen filmy s gay tematrikou s pohádkovými konci, i takový je svět. Z těch čtyř hlavních postav mě herecky nejvíce zaujala manželka Amanda (Dimples Romana a právem zvítězila ve své kategorii na MMFF 2022) a Mathew (Sean de Guzman). Zpracování velmi solidní.

What is interesting about this musical short is how it was made almost without dialogues, I was also interested in the simplicity of the "love at first sight" story and especially the musical component. Some Pinoy projects have some really beautiful music...and to that, the Drei Arias symposium, a trained actor, model and winner of several local Filipino male pageants.

Zajímavé na tomto hudebním kraťasu je, jak byl vyroben téměř bez dialogů, dále mě zaujala jednoduchost příběhu "lásky na první pohled" a především hudební složka. Některé pinoy projekty mají opravdu krásnou hudbu ... a k tomu sympoš Drei Arias, vystudovaný herec, model a vítěz několika lokálních filipínských mužských soutěží.

It's such a beautiful film that it deserves better copy and better credits, but let's at least be happy with what's available. For me, the experience of the film was supported to the greatest extent by the music (it's that special atmosphere), which stopped only for a moment. In the second half of the film, I shed a tear here and there, sometimes because of the "special atmosphere", sometimes because of the story. The film is completely Japanese, exactly according to their requirements (according to Japanese women, beautiful bishonen youths and manga characters) and perception, and will probably always remain behind in the evaluation, because Western viewers also evaluate it according to their one-sided "standards", binding themselves and not with the story and acting bulls to understand. The story is deep and visceral, the acting is convincing and exactly as the Japanese require in this kind of production, the music is absolutely dominant, I already wrote about it, and the processing is tasteful (especially the nude scenes). I will come back to you sometime, dear picture, even for the third time ....


Je to tak krásný film, že by zasloužil lepší kopii i lepší titulky, ale buďme rádi alespoň za to, co je k dispozici. U mě podpořila největší měrou zážitek z filmu hudba (to je ta zvláštní atmosféra), která se zastavila vždy jen na chvilku. Ve druhé půli filmu mi i sem tam ukápla slzička, jednou z té "zvláštní atmosféřy", jindy kvůli příběhu. Snímek naprosto japonský, přesně dle jejich požadavků (dle Japonek krásní bishonen mladíci a mangovské postavičky) a vnímání a zůstane asi vždy v hodnocení pozadu, neboť jej hodnotí i západní diváci dle svých jednostranných "norem", zavazejíc sami sobě a nejsou s to příběh a herecké býkony pochopit. Příběh je hluboký a niterný, herectví přesvědčivé a přesně tak, jak Japonci v tomto druhu produkce vyžadují, hudba je naprosto dominantní, o té už jsem psal a zpracování vkusné (především nahé scény). Vrátím se někdy za tebou, milý snímku, i potřetí ....

The above-average Korean short caught my attention. I would rather choose a subject from a different barrel (e.g. a poet and a reader), because even if, for example, equality of men who like men with the majority will be achieved one day, education will always be viewed differently, even in countries where there is an LGBTQ+ community recognized (love relationships between teachers and students), be they hetero or other relationships. Despite some enthusiastic reactions on the net, this time I agree with ŠK that I also missed more depth there, the actors symposia, especially the shapely Jae Hyun, but only a little repressed.

Nadprůměrný korejský kraťas mě zaujal. Námět bych spíše volil z jiného soudku (např. básník a čtenář), neboť i když třeba jednou bude dosaženo rovnosti mužů co mají rádi muže s majoritou, tak na školství se bude vždy pohlížet jinak, a to i v zemích, kde je LGBTQ+ komunita uznávána (milostné vztahy mezi vyučujícími a žáky), ať už to budou vztahy hetero či jiné. Přes některé nadšené reakce na netu se tentokráte shodnu s ŠK, že i mě tam chyběla větší hloubka, herci sympoši, především urostlý Jae Hyun, ale jen tak trochu odříkané.
